Don't know if sponge is still there.. nice people.

BTW i'm selling my skateboard, never really got around to taking off and I don't have the time to keep doing it now. pm me if you're interested; it's in pretty good cond.

eh i used to skate.. a set up is almost like a guitar.. you are gonna be picky when you go into it.. like the different kind of shape of the board(yes there is a difference) the amount of plys of the board whether you want picture or not.. etc.. bearings got range from slow to fast to extremely fast.. wheels got diff materials(dont get rubber!) trucks got different widths different weight different kind of king-pin. even the grip tape got alot of difference.. the first set up you should get should be really just based on how much you wanna spend.. spitfire's a nice place to start off.. not miz 29.. actually the best will be at go sports if that's still around.. it's been more than a year since ive stepped on a board..

bin4christ- it's okay, we humans make mistake.

kicky- Sponge is still there, at far east. yarh.. the pple quite nice, met with them b4.

nak- yarh.. i agree with you, same like guitar.. need to choose your parts too ur liking. bearings, wheels, deck.

fuh! i spent nearly $800 on my sk8board parts, just to get the experience of different types. I'm also selling my sk8board but not sure, nowadays i mostly c pple sk8 around my neighbourhood, feel like sk8ing again.

Nefianz- When you want to sk8, PM me. Mayb we can sk8 together.

Powell sk8boards is a good and cheap brand. Cost about $60 just for the deck.

Trucks- I used grind king b4, quite gd

wheels- Get bullet cheap and durable

screws- SHORTY's

Ball bearing- depends on ur liking. NMB- is long lasting and cheap, speed is quite okay.

I forgot all the prices, SORRY

get powell mini logo series.. dont go buy boards because of brands. or stuff like monster mould etc etc. it wouldnt make a difference till you understand everything about skateboarding.. but since it's gonna be your first board and it's gonna be trashed around the most.. i really suggest a santa cruz board.. it can last.. and i mean last.. lol

how abt scorpion at royal sporting house.. $60

i saw some at heeren tt surf shop.. $130 not sure wad brand though..

i mean i'm not looking to jump of stairs, grind, fly up ramps n stuff.. been many many years since i stepped on a skateboard.. i was still in pri sch then.. lolz..

ok im guessin ur a beginner so heres what i suggest u get.

1. get a blank deck (powell or status). it cost 60 bucks. u ain pro yet so u dont need to show off a deck wit nice artwork, besides it costs 80 bucks for one.

2. trucks. light trucks make ur deck lighter so u can pop higher but its harder for u to control ur deck in midair because of its light weight. medium/heavy trucks, the direct opposite. heaviers deck but more control. price range wld be beteen 35 to 70 bucks.
light trucks - grind kings - $69
medium/heavy - phantom, combat, destructo

3. wheels. the bigger the wheel, the better for vert skating and the smaller it is, the better for street skating. get between 52mm to 56mm. no point buyin big wheels since sucky s'pore has got no verts at all. dont get hollow core wheels, cuz they tend to break easy aft hard landings. price range is frm $40 - $50+.

4. bearings. get Speed Demons. they're fast, durable, ABEC 5 AND cheap. they cost $28 only. i've been using them ever since aft my first time of using them. u can get em frm spitfire. there are 3 kinds of ABECs. ABEC 3, 5 n 7. 7 being the fastest.

at last but not least. ples, ples, ples, ples dont buy those fake shit decks frm carrefour, royal sporting house or flash n splash. they're decks made frm crappy lousy wood and they lack concaves at the sides. plus the bearings are like abec 1. ples for ur sake dont get it. if i see u carring one, i wld not hesitate to stop in my trackes, stare at u, point and laugh at u and call u a poser. haha ok was just kiddin but really dont get it cuz its a rip off. ok now, at them most, u shld prob be spendin about 180 to 200 above. have a gd time gettin the stuff u need n most of all, enjoy skateboarding.

if i can rmb my last set up. FL!P Mark Appleyard Lte Edition board. monkey hardware. jezzup grip. krux trucks(no shock absorber i hate them) mirror finish. swiss precision bearings. and elements wheels. FL!P boards have not alot of concave so the board is relatively flat. and krux down-los are great!

talking about all these i really wanna start skating again. despite all the injuries; including a broken arm. i miss those days really. but i kinda skated at the wrong period of time in spore. i started just before skateboarding was the in thing.. you know just having fun at small self made 'skate parks'. until things got wide scale shit wanna skate at youth park skate park also boring.

speaking of injuries,i came across ppl who hurt their balls skating...

btw the scorpion at royal sporting house got LOUSY bearings...

We have skate park in the 90s but not like in orchard that kind....it was at the national stadium peoples association...

I wonder if spitfire still sells skateboards stuffs.

Do wear your safety gears if you skate tough.. i witness a friend of mine broke his WRIST and i hearead the sound when it broke....oooouch!

Spitfire do sell sk8board stuff.

Wearing safety gear is up to you. Some skaters find it quite sisi wearing gear. If you're playing vert then use it, it helps.

I broke my wrist once, I heard it crack and couldn't feel my hand after that.

Bishan also has a sk8 park but there's a price, $3 for an hour, borrowing of helmets is $1. :?
