SingTel launches AMPed music service

SingTel has officially launched AMPed, a new interactive music service for the telco's mobile customers which offers unlimited downloads in partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG).

SingTel claims its the first of its kind in Asia and goes beyond offering unlimited music downloads, with AMPed customers given free access to music videos, the latest entertainment news and gossip and pre-album releases.

Hmm... I'm wondering what's the catch. Don't tell me the music is all encoded in .WMA and with DRM, cause if it is, I'm not getting hooked.

Why can't companies realise that DRM is killing the legitimate download scene...
