Single Guitar String

Hi, i just broke my b string while restringing my acoustic guitar, any idea where i could buy a single b string?
By the way, i'm using d'addario phosphor bronze medium strings
could i get the string from swee lee?
thanks for the help!

i always have an extra pack which i keep to replace any string that broke. so no need panic2 go guitar shop buy. haha. it costs more one by one.

some guitar shops that sell single strings don't take care of the strings, and they often lie there for ages, slowly deteriorating. some of the single strings at swee lee are in pretty bad shape. this isn't meant to be a cheap shot at swee lee, just my neutral observation.

if i were in your position, i'd buy from ranking (opp. swee lee). they're single strings are kept in their original boxes and seem well maintained.

oh, and btw, if you're interested in something different, check out zachary progressive tension strings (just google zachary strings). i started using them recently, and i like the feel they have.

thanks for the suggestion guys.
>>senn_liu: thanks for the info, shall go down to ranking to get my string then!
>>unknown: won't the other strings just rust if u change only one?
>>mus: haha, this is the second time that my b string broke while restringing, anyway, you seem to be selling an electric guitar g-string if i'm not wrong?

well depends...if sometimes i break a string when i restringing the whole set, then i just replace the broken string. if the string are already used a long time, might as well change the whole set. but weirdly, ive never had rusty strings before. only my old beat up acoustic which i didnt use for a few years have rusty strings. hah.

Yeah, it's an electric g-string but it's wound, can be used on an acoustic i guess. :D.

For me, usually the e-string breaks while restringing, seldom the b-string. When it's broken, alamak! shit! no e-string! -_-

for single string,do they come in different gauge??need to get some for my acoustic, cos my high E always breaks.....normally wats the price range for single string??do they have different brand available???

I agree with TheUnknown... I'd do the same thing. Usually, its my thinnest E string that breaks. And its a .10!

garaguni: they won't have single D'addario strings, usually single strings are by D'Aquisto or those smaller brands. You have to ask for specific gauge, so tell them what gauge you're using and which string you need, or even better tell them the exact gauge of your B string.

I hate the thinnest E string. Hahaha. Btw,does anyone know how to maintain unused strings? As everytime I change guitar strings,I don't throw them away. I would keep them back in the packet for future use,I just wipe them with a cloth. (All my packets don't have the thinnest e string btw.)

sorry. What I meant was all my used strings which I store them in packets, don't have the e string. (That's the reason I took the other 5 strings off.) Means, for example. I broke the thinnest e,so I buy a new packet of guitar, remove the 5 strings from guitar and keep them back in the packet, while I place the new set.

I cant see how can you all break a string when restringing, its most likely manuefacturer defects,i mean sometimes the inner core just gives way and the whole strings gone. But if you overwound the strings.Comon take it easy and step by step.

my advice....get a floyd guitar and enter the world of taking a more methodical approach to stringing your guitar and learning the workings of strings-guitar :)
