hi
could any one please recommend me a bridge pick up for my american strat , maple neck.

im looking for hum cancelling or stacked pick ups in single coil form.
something that is able to take high gain well. looking for a metal tone for riffs and lead. the current stock pick ups doesnt sound smooth.

what are your recommendations? dimarzios or duncans
im thinking of fast track 2, red lace sensor or duncan jb junior.

For metal, i think hot rail is the best bet. But you'll have to say goodbye to your strat tone.

Other option is hot stack.

BTW if you want hot stack, I would be happy to take it off my guitar and sell it to you :P

The Fender Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pups (stock on American Deluxe Strats) retain an authentic single coil Strat tone while keeping noise out.

+1 to this. fender's Noiseless is still the standard to beat.

if you can bear with the hum, Duncan's Quarter Pound is still the best single coil pickup for high gain settings IMO.

Bro, SCN and Fender Noiseless (there are Vintage and Hot Noiseless) are 2 different animal, I think.

Have you tried Seymour duncans new stack plus?

ive not tried any of those pick ups you guys mentioned though

im changing only the bridge
because i want to keep the strat tone in position 1 2 3

for position 4 5 it would probly be geared towards a more high gain kind of tone.

plugging it into a peavey xxx

so you guys suggesting the dimarzios hot rail?

i was reading about the fast track 2
any comments on it ?

Strats are generally thought of as

position 1: Neck
2: neck and middle
3 middle
4 bridge and middle - quack tone
5 bridge.

oic.. changing the bridge.

SSL-3 hot for strat. I personally use that. No traditonal strat tone there. But string mids topush your amp well..

You can go hot rails too. Thats really strong as well.

Then again you have a pretty strong amp there. Has quite some gain to it.

Putting in a alnico 2 pro for strat will certainly smooth things out but not cancel the hum.

sumthing nice you can put in there... will be a lil 59b , or a jb junior.
install a coil tap so you still get some twang in split coil settings.

I'd recommend Kinman pickups. Authentic strat tone, ultimate in hum cancelling, and there are some models that have really really hot output. Check out the SCn, their Special Strat Bridge pickup, the hottest of the lot, mate of mine who plays Yngwie Malmsteen and Angra stuff uses that on his strat....

yes they are. my +1 goes to any Fender proposals as a first choice consideration.

Fast Track 2- have it in my RG560, not a good propenent for a replacement strat pickup, but good per se. rather lacking in lower midrange.

Hot Rails- total departure from strat tone. good consideration for a humbucking, high gain alternative. bass inclined.

my strat is loaded with kinmans as well ... im using the Avn Blues set. never looked back. its just a pity they dun make humbuckers.

the price is painful though. very painful.

i was looking for chugga chugga on the bridge,
i can throw the strat tone away on the bridge though
:)

but would wana get some sort of metal tone for leads n riffs on the bridge
and neck n mids for blues

are kin mans good for metal in the bridge?

what about lace sensor red

then the Duncan Hot Rails is good for this requirement. it does well in my tele.

does installing a mid boost module smoothen out the sound
and provide more lower end instead of only mids

but doesnt require me to change the pick ups at all

they sound fabulous clean actually.
