Qns regarding amps and pick ups

ohh thanks guys i'm learning quite abit from you guys
but pardon me, im really green with amps so other than brands i really got no idea how to tell how liable amps really are..
and oh btw how do you tell between solid/tube whether by the amp's name or only way to tell is by looking and by looking, and are all tubes from tube amps visable on the exterior?
haha anw @whitestrat you make me feel that its pointless to get a high watt amp haha
oh man and if that's the case more wattage doesnt mean better tone, seriously im very lost

First you gotta ask yourself, what is a better tone to you. Heard your favorite guitar player and really loved his sound? Is that the tone YOU want to be able to get with your fingers and soul?

I think the guys here have told you, wattage don't equate to 'tone'. So relax and know that bigger/ isn't always better.

You can tell if it's tube or not by looking under the hood, or at the back of the amp. See them glass bottles/light bulb kinda things that glows when the amp is switched on, thats your tubes. If it does not seem to have any, like most amps you would find at jamming studios, thats it, it's a solid state.

ok kinda understand the concept already so yes thanks guys for the help really appreciated it :)
will post again if im having any troubles :)
