ooh a tesla coil. like from red alert. ok lame pun. um i'll consider that. any sound samples? i went to davis and asked the guy how much was it to split a jb jr with a push pull. and he was like "siao this one cannot split. single coil leh" and im like " its a *single coil sized humbucker* " and he was like "cannot split la.." "i was like. erm i did my homework before coming so im quite sure" then he asked the techie and tried coaxing him to his viewpoint but the techie said "can la. 20 bucks"

20 bucks cheap lah. does it includes the price of the push pull?

oh and if i installed a jb jr, do i need to change pot values? also how many push pulls do i need if i wanna coil split and have neck+ bridge option? 1 enough?

Hi,

I think you'll need 2 switches, one for coil split, one for neck-on switch.
Which means that you'll need 2 push pulls.

Since you have only 2 knobs - volume n tone - then you may consider putting a push pull on the tone, and adding a small switch somewhere. Which means creating a hole... ouch... i did it on my strat copy, just made a small hole in the pickguard just next to the 5 way switch. That's for my neck on switch.

Actually you can consider switching between (a) humbucker and (b) parallel,
rather than (a) humbucker and (b) single coil (coil split/coil tap).

With parallel you can get a thinner sound (altho not as thin as a single coil) AND hum reduction. With single coil you won't have the hum reduction.

Unless your guit is well shielded, single coil pickups will tend to give a little buzz... except high end stuff like Lace Sensors of course.

But if a single coil sound is what you want, then go for the coil tap :>

Good to find a tech who understands and knows how to do this. Davis chaps do pretty good work lah. Beez also good.
