Hot on the heels of Fast and Furious 7, one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide and the 6th biggest global title of all time, comes The Fate of the Furious - now featuring the vocals and songwriting skills of Singaporean Hiphop emcee and singer, MAS1A. The title track of the movie's trailer, Speakerbox, is composed by iconic American DJ and producer, Bass Nectar, and samples MAS1A's underground hit, Warriors Tongue, off her third full length LP, Bootleg Culture. MAS1A's original track was produced by Good Music producer Che Vicious (Kanye West, Dr. Dre) and recorded at world famous Saltmine Studios in Arizona (Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys). The infectious hook caught the attention of Bass Nectar after it was remixed by several prominent EDM producers and blasted on the biggest stages at Burning Man Music Festival. MAS1A and Bass Nectar are presently continuing their collaboration, with new music expected to be released in 2017.
This is not the first major success for the 5-foot emcee from Singapore. Previously known as Masia One, MAS1A's claim to fame was being the first female, and the first Asian, to be nominated for a MTV Canada award in the male machismo-dominated category of Rap. She caught the attention of Dr Dre's label, Aftermath and boasts song collaborations with names like Pharell, The Game, RZA (Wu-Tang Clan) and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chilli Peppers).
Her love for global sounds brought her to Tuff Gong in Jamaica, where she recorded and worked alongside world class musicians that have supported Jimmy Cliff, Shaggy, and The Mighty Diamonds. After touring in more than 25 countries and being signed to distribution and publishing deals by Avex Japan, Warner Sweden and Muti Music USA, MAS1A now returns home to Singapore.
