Silent practice

if you note, many of the devices offering headphones access are digital units, but very analog responses can be obtained from these:

i got the classic rock.
it does what it says, marshall sound.
the classic rock, with the kind of humbuckers i use, has no clean sound at all :P
even with gain at 1, theres a very light crunch.

if you want cleaner, of cos the AC30.

any pic of your set up with this device?

I'm an incredibly lazy photographer, but I managed to take and transfer photos with my handphone.

The amp and cab lies at the end of my bed since my room is small. Other rubbish on top of the cab cleared for purposes of taking the picture.

You might be asking - hey, this isn't a fully noiseless set up - but the noisy cricket sounds just like its name... it just can't get loud. Normally I would have to max out all controls and it still isn't very loud for daytime playing. Night time, turn down the volume a bit, play a bit more quieter music. Nobody has been complaining ever since the cricket joined my family.

Sub, nice set up you've got there for silent practice. I've been quite intrigued by the pocket POD for awhile, and i'm wondering if you could enlighten me on a fine detail - does the pocket POD boast the same recording capabilities as that of the its PODxt cousin?

Also, comparing the likes of the vox, pocket POD and the TASCAM mp3 guitar trainer, which do you think would be the best device for general practice purposes?

general practice needs without frills- VOX amPlug is hard to beat (tone-wise).

if you think you need some intricate effects & quality headphones output- LINE6 Pocket POD. does it live up to its bigger siblings' reputation- you bet!

if you need something for both guitar & bass + a little backing in terms of rhythm- KORG Pandora will see to this. the current PX4D also includes a metronome module + phrase trainer (4 secs recording time) for you to record some tracks you wish to play along or slow down.

PX4D metronome module and phrase trainer?
that function has actually been around since the PX3.
the PX4D, like the PX3 and PX4, should offer up to 30secs recording...but of cos at a lower quality.

Hmm when it's late I still play with my amp until my brother starts making noise.. then I turn it down a notch... hahaha

but anyway, I just got a mac book and am planning to get Fast Track USB.. has anyone used this thingie before?? Is it any good??? Will probably need to get some good headphones as well..

sorry for the noob question,
what are the differences when you compare digital sounds to analog sounds?
pardon my innocence.. heh~

Normally, I would just take the headphones and plug into my Podxt Live straight, or from the amp, works well. And Sub, the KORG Pandora PX4D is how much? Can get at City Music right? And to the above post, analog sounds more realistic. It's like comparing digital cameras to analog cameras, obviously the analog is clearer.

Cheers,
WWH
