Hey people. i was thinking of getting a new guitar. i'm currently using a ibanez gio. and thought of upgrading my guitar to a ibanez s470. however, i'm not that sure if it suits me or anything. i play mostly rock and fast music. a little bit of metal. and also, whats the difference between maple top? infact, what is it ? hah. thanks.

There's a review on the s520ex by subversion in the forum somewhere, which is similar to the s470 but without the middle single coil pickup. Go look it up!
A real maple cap is conventionally used to enhance the highs/brilliance of a guitar. But the one on the s470 is just a comestic veneer as mentioned already and imparts no tonal difference.

i say go for the sa260.
WHOAH! damn good guitar! it's $1000, but it's still damn good. i tried it today. never felt such a good thing in a long time. the neck was ibanezy, it was flat and lacquered. smooth. and there's the set neck to very easy fret access.
it's about the same thinness as the s470.
and what's the best? it's HSS and u can split coil, so u can get SSS.
i say it's a damn good guitar i want it, but sadly i cant.
