Hi

I am currently 23 and have been working quite some time but i wasnt really happy with the mon to fri job as my inerest is all about music.. i actually thinking of taking vocal lesson but was afraid that im too old to learn singing. I wish to have my own band but i don have any frens who like music the same as i do so that makes sense that i don hav any frens who play instruments. I am currently still learning guitar in yamaha but i once hav a dream is that i hope i can be able to sing at gigs some day with my band singing rock pop songs. like part time singing full time working was not a bad idea haha.. dreaming off sorry. so am i too old to dream of this stuff and too old to take vocal lesson>? pls leave your comment best is reccommand me some vocal sch if possible that are price acceptable.. hee.. tks

Nah, Im sure you can do it!
If you really are passionate and determine to be a good singer and guitarist, you will definetly make it. Follow your dream man! I'm sure you an achieve it!

If you need a bassist, pm me. xD
Jkjk, I'm also learning from the net on bass playing :3

Don't stop dreaming. A good part of life's worth is in the dreams; and their fulfillment. I dreamt of finding a purpose in life, it happened. I used to wanna sing in a hotel lounge, it happened. I dreamt of singing with a jazz band, it happened. I used to wanna do recordings and learn piano as an adult, it happened. I dreamt of imparting what i've learnt in music and singing to students young and old, and it happened.

I'm 23. I'm vocal coaching now. I started dreaming when I was young, God saw my dreams. He made all of them happen. Dream, and tell God about your dreams. They will happen. Life has little worth without purpose and dreams.

Give me a call if you wanna try out my singing classes too k! Go Vanessa! Dream!

i'm 23 as well. :) and i have dreams similar to yours.

i'm definitely pursuing mine without doubts. even if i don't make it anywhere, at least i have no regrets and at least i tried. *i have dreams of being in a crazy rock band going on worldwide tours* LoL. Worst still, i'm on the bass and it's not as easy for us compared to singers, reality wise. oh wells.

like bigblackbear said, it's never too late to pick up music.

In Singapore, from my point of view, it's not really feasible to pursue music as a full time job just yet. haha. unless you are a music teacher or what not. as a high flying rock band, maybe not yet. though the scene is getting better. do keep your day job as it will still be your main form of income.

besides, even if its part-time singing, you still get to enjoy the joys of music and don't have to eat grass. haha. that's a plus.

I wish to have my own band but i don have any frens who like music the same as i do so that makes sense that i don hav any frens who play instruments.

never fret as there's always this forum. :D Where you can meet people who share your same love for music.

do you wish to sing mainly english or mandarin songs?

well..

u should go on with ur dream!! what u can do is before u take up vocal class.. be sure about the genres u wanna do(of course the more the better) but for beginner try to do a few kinds first . Then let ur instructor know what is it u wanna do.. then.. when u are more comfortable u can start looking for members.. there's a "musician wanted" in soft so i suppose u can try ur luck . But i have to stress that it's not easy at first.. depends on luck u might get the committed and the not -so - committed ones. but i'm sure when u try hard enough u can do it.. ! hm.. dont give up.. welcome to the music world.. juz remember all u need is abit of time and tons of hardwork!

A dream will always remain one without the first step taken. Try it out, and see whether it fits for size. If it doesn't, you can chose not to purchase it. If it does, you can buy it and walk on it for another path in life for ya.

Im hook up wif eng songs like soft rock songs, i like to listen to songs from jason mraz, john mayer, paramore, kelly clarkson and also demi lovato. although she is so young but kind of inspired me on the way she look into her life as a musician, anyway shes cool haha...

but i do sing mandarin songs too when i went to ktv wif my frens but i only know about the songs that are quite some time ago haha.. cos i don really listen to mandarin songs haha... and when i heard my fren sang mandarin songs that r nice i will ask them to send me that song haha...

Hey Vanessa, yea many Singaporeans just let their dreams die. Because they know it'll be miserable to be chasing them.

But I'd rather feel the pain and joy of chasing dreams, than to numb myself to the world and follow the flow. I'm sure you see many peers around you, pursuing money, a supposedly 'good' career, cars, and other (in my opinion) worthless things by your age. Don't become a zombie like them!

ya u're right most of my friends are that way but theres no right or wrong lah anyway is wat they chose and i am not in that way i can swear to say haha.. as my frens hav always ask me to get a job with high pay or that will be gd for future but then i totally sick of it as it was boring for me working meaning less stuff and my mind is out there someone haha... but when i told them my dream some will think that im not yet grown up but for my bff they will support me and say do wat u like. i think i hav less then 10 ppl that i consider as frens haha... but watever haha...

well...gotta still remain realistic at the same time.
don't put all your eggs in one basket...unless u're really sure u can survive on it.

in this case, i would say the risk factor is rather high if wanna base your life solely on it.
it is possible to focus on other stuff at the same time if u're determined enough...so keep your options open! Maintain skills in the job market where u may have the slightest interest too while grooming your musical side.

that'd be my take! I'm 25 btw...and still suck at guitar =)
