Shorter scale length strat?

Hi folks,

I'm looking at trying something experimental on my MIJ strat. I like the shorter scale length on Gibsons and some yamaha guitars - string bending is far easier, and I like 'em. Fenders have a 25.5" scale length.

Has anyone here got a shorted scale neck fitted on your strat? What problems, if any, did you face?

Any idea if anyone brings in short(er) necks for strats? Preferably with jumbo frets...

Thx.

maybe you can use gauge 08s 1st... its also easier, but too much benind would snap ur 1st string... lke how malmsteen ripped his first 3 strings with his bare fingers during the concert... haha

i'm gonna be a bitch abt this, but frankly string guage for me is more of a feel of playing, not really much about sound, and i believe if you "pick hard enough" you can get the same tone as with a heavier gauge

which MIJ strat do you have? if you have the st45 its already short scale.

replacement necks that are short scale can be found on warmoth or if your feelin upmarket USACG.

Try 9s on your strat if its 25.5 scale. they will feel like 10s on a 24 3/4 scale.

tone wise its gonna be a tad differnet though.

putting a shorter scale neck on a 25.5 inch strat wont do. it'll just won't intonate. unless u got a custom made body.

there are 24 3/4 conversion necks on USACG for strats.

But those will cost you upwards of 300USD plus shipping.

Yeah I was concerned about the intonation, I guessed as much. Mine is a ST43.

I used to play 8's and 9's but I just prefer the feel of 10's. If it's going to cost US$300+ for a conversion neck, then I guess I'll just have to learn to play better with what I have, instead of being lazy... Or go back to my Gibson.

search on google for fender japan ST45.

i remember there was a model with shortscale but i'm not about to search for you.
