Search the forum. I posted about Shine guitars before.

Shine used to be from Korea, not sure if they are still MIK though. They were OEM for Epiphones last time.

Hey there!

Most Shine guitars are made in China. There's some made in Korea. I don't know about the rest. To me, if the guitar feels good on me. I'll take it regardless of where it is made of. Just bought a Shine guitar model WRL500 myself. Started of with just window shopping. But, as normal, the guitar stores are places that I would just check and see.

I was glued on this Shine guitar which looked really awesome. But as normal, I'm curious about the sound. Does it sound good as it looks? Well, call the salesman and try out the guitar. Wow.....it's great! And the price tag is less than S$500. I'll take my chances if it last. As this won't be my only guitar, I am not really worried if the sound won't last.

My earlier experience was, I used to have a guitar made in China and a Fender made in US. The chinese guitar brand was something like Tamaki, if I'm not mistaken. Having played in many gigs, I can't rely on one guitar as one might just give way (Technically). You can never know man! Funny things do happen. Both my guitars are overplayed. But the ones that gave me alot of problems is my fender. First, the sound slag from time to time and then the intonation got really bad. While my China guitar stays loyal to me. Eventually I sold my Fender guitar (With a profit). Hehehe!!

Hey..you'll never know. But due to change in time and better technology, I've sold my China guitar to a close friend whose still using it till today. I first bought that China made guitar somewhere in 1989 in Europe while studying. But there's some repainted works done on that guitar where you'll never see the brand name anymore.

Quoted from their "INFO, About Shine" page:

"Saein Musical Instrument Co., Ltd. Is located in Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon, Korea. Saein was estabulished in 1991, 07. 01. Currently, we have 100 employees, and our monthly capacity is 4,500pcs still growing to expand. Our main business is OEM for famous brand Epiphone. Also, our solely branded Shine is increasing steadily. In February, 2001, we have successfully launched a new independent factory in Gaomi City, China. It is only an hour away from Qingdao Shandong province. Our China factory employees are 300 people, and our monthly capacity is 10,000pcs still growing to expand as well. We are an OEM vendor for famous brand Ibanez, and Peavey. Also, our solely branded Shine is gradually expanding. We have become one of the famous leading guitar manufacturer in China."

I think there's a mix of MIK and MIC in our local stores. I've tried quite a few at Ranking Sports & Music in Bras Basah, bass and guitar, and I think they are really value for money. If you find a good piece, be it MIK or MIC, I think you should just go ahead and get it. Personally, I like to buy gears from Ranking, nice pple there, good price too.

well, do bear in mind they arent the only china made guitars that can look/feel great...

luthiermusic sells this china made brand called metalgear, their strats sound and feel pretty awesome too, with maple necks.

not to mention the timbre guitars from www.standardvalue.com.sg

i am so gonna get one.

that shine guitars are either made in japan or korera which are supposed to be good guitars

Thats really a wrong concept~

ANYWAYS! if you like the guitar?

Go ahead and Purchase it : )

i've played alot of the shines there, the "sqashed rhoads" tele and the ES copy, they're nice guitars to have fun with =)

so go ahead and buy if you Like it ^^

yeah location is shld not be an issue. As long as the prive u pay n the quality is ok, u get value.

If kusu island make gd guitar, i will swim there if needed... erm erm

like ceriatone in malaysia, yet he getting so much gd reviews from ppl in US... ok out of pt

Hey Kusu Island made guitar eh? Hehehe....!! No need to swim there lah. Now got ferry services, I think. Then the name would be Kusu Guitars for that case. That'll sound cool too!

But, I'm waiting for Sentosa(Means Peace in Malay) Guitars if there's any. Hehehe!

Anyway, the guitar is just the tool. You as the player will make full use of that tool. So, it doesn't really matter. Not everyone share the same tastes. So, if you think that Guitar feels good on you. Hey....Get it man!!

I've got mine! Hehehe...!!

The shine FR model with the tree of life inlay looks awesome. However, I think the inlay material is microabalone - a verythin sheet of abalone material that can be easily used as compared to using the normal standard .50 thick abalone or pearl blanks...

It's killer looking though!

theres this black Shine RR copy with FR bridge down at Guitar Connection. theres a sticker behind the headstock there that states made in China. I guess they have most probably shifted their production to China ( same as epiphone dont you think? ) anyway, RR type guitars just to catch my fancy so I didnt really try it  .

Saein have indeed moved part of their production to China. The rest should still be from the Korean factory.

Again, for the uninformed, they were the OEM of Epiphone quite some time back.
