Hey, I was thinking of getting BOSS PS-5
but its quite hard to get one these days. I always get bumped into PS-3 version in forums or shops. So which one is the better version?
and I do play experimental.

Ibanez Tubescreamers.
which "TS-808", "TS5", "TS-9" should i get?
Im really confused about the selection.

Lastly,
I do understand that Noise Suppressor eliminates unwanted noise and hum.
Is it necessary for me to buy it if i like to mix up my effects with heavy distortions and delays since it will be very noisy eventually. I want to hear how my technical parts on the guitar that i play without being too "noisy". HELP.

oh ya. im currently using
DD-20,
Line-6 DL4
Beta Alvin DD-200 ( I know its cheapskate. but it does produce wonderful sounds for me)
RV-5
Beta Alvin HM-100 ( I need to change it!)

lol.. dude.. firstly, it's Beta Aivin.

Pitchshifter: PS-5 is the later version. hence upgrades..... more functions..... google the list of functions and see which meets ur requirements.

Tubescreamers. All the versions u mentioned are basically the same circuit. different outlook/production dates. best bet to go have a go and pick what feels good to u.

Noise suppressors. Nah. Not unless your telling me you run a maxed out uberschall or have 15-20 pedals in your chain. considering the number of pedals u are running now, better to be looking for cleaner power supply (personal opinion).

lastly: google is a very powerful tool. learn to use it. (i'm being mean, but u get my point. ur questions are abt very general and popular guitar gear, the internet's littered with write ups and commentaries about them, even on soft. better yet to go to a shop to personally try them out.)

totally agree

PS-3 is well loved for the delay and "inverse pitch shift" mode, heavenly when mixed with all your delays and reverbs. PS-5 never impressed me -- if you want a pitchshifter/harmoniser without the weird modes of the PS-3, go for the latest PS-6 Harmonist.

Not only are there a million different Ibanez Tubescreamers, there are even more clones. Some have secret magical mojo from being "handwired" or made in the original factory or whatever, if you believe in that stuff. Like skipper said, try then buy.

Noise gates typically shut off the sound when the input signal is at a (selectable) low threshold. This is useful to remove background hum when you are NOT playing, if your amp/pedals/pickups/power has a noise problem in the first place or your gain is just so high. As far as mixing distortions and delays, I'd think that you are actually trying to produce some dirty, noisy guitar in a good way, not unwanted hum. So probably no need for a noise suppressor.

If you are looking for a mild overdriven round sound, get the TS 808. It's great for boosting. By far my favourite pedal. Doesn't have to be the original one made in the 80s to sound good.

The TS-9 IMO is harsher but serves it's purpose too. If you are looking at the TS-9, I would rather you get a TS9DX for more versatility.

TS-7 is good for an introduction in the tubescreamer world.

sounds like you are about to go on a journey many if not all pedalnerds have endured (and still do): the dreaded overdrive quest.

the question "which tubescreamer to get?" has ruined lives.

from now onwards, its a long dark road of confusion, regret, envy, despair, and poverty.

fingers swollen from clicking, nerves frayed from encounters with forum tough guys, eyes teary from staring at laptop screens, ears numb to all the video demos, brains liquidated by jargon.

your every waking moment consumed by the thought of that overdrive and how it would compare to that other one and whether either is better than the one you have.

be afraid. be very afraid. in TGP, no one can hear you scream.

edit: i use a keeley flexi if im in the mood for a TS. works for me :)

LOL! Nice one! All so true, indeed. And there comes a point where you can't tell which one is better anymore.
