Shielding my guitar..

so for shielding, just shield the pups cavity, the pick guard and thats it?.

anyway, wht do u mean by shielding the entire pups? like u wrap it up entirely???

For question no1.
Yes exactly.

For question no2.
Yes that was what I meant, so don't wrap your pups, it will change your tone.

ok, thaks zep.

just curious to find out, why is aluminium or copper chosen for shielding? if it becos they dun induce magnetism, non-ferramagnetic? any other things i can use?

Pick guard queries

Hi there, I am new to this forum, and also a noobie at guitar. I have this acoustic guitar, and while playing one day, i found so many scratches on the pick guard, is this normal or is there a way to get rid of the scratches? Guitar belongs to a friend of mine.

You got the wrong thread. It's normal for the pickguard top to get scratches due to the picking of the strings with the guitar pick. So in order not to scratch the pick guard further practice picking the strings only.

As for the scratches you can repolish it with a polishing agent or change to a new pickguard.

hehe i thought pickguards are supposed to be scratched. thats the purpose of pickguard isnt it?

Yupz it's normal for a pickguard to get scratch because of the picking from the pick, but than practice more so that your guitar wont get scratches, pick only the strings and not all over the pickguard or the guitar body.
