SG:SW2017 – short for Singapore Song Writing Festival, is a nationwide Mandarin-Pop song writing festival, providing a platform for new and emerging songwriters to showcase and network with fellow songwriters and industry professionals.
Taking reference from an iconic event, Xinyao Festival (新谣节) from the late 80s-1990, SG:SW2017 “我写我的歌” is designed to meet the current youth mentality and social media age, yet not forgetting the key messaging and objectives of the original festival which has groomed several local talents and which has contributed to the rise of a music community that has become an important aspect in Singapore heritage and which paved way for the development of local talents overseas.
OBJECTIVES
Provide a prominent and iconic platform to discover outstanding original songs written by young Singaporeans.
Provide networking opportunities for songwriters and professionals from the music industry.
Promote local music and songwriters, thereby creating a sense of national identity.
Provide opportunities for potential songwriters to improve their skills through masterclasses by industry experts.
OVERVIEW
All-inclusive, aimed at all locals, students, working adults, foreign students and workers
An event focused on Music Composition instead of a singing competition
This is not a competition but a platform to present outstanding local music compositions
