Set-up ideas for Quiet Practicing

Hey all,
As mentioned in the title, I'm looking for set-up ideas for quiet practicing because I'm somewhat of a gear and tech noob. I need help as I'm shifting to a hostel (university life) so I need help on a set-up.

Currently, this is the set up I have at home:

VOXAD15VT --> LINE 6 JM 4 LOOPER --> DIST PEDAL --> WAH --> GUITAR

For practice in the hostel, I would require/prefer:
- To be able to play clean / distorted
- Looping functions (for jamming)

I'm open to all ideas for now, eg. portable amps, headphones, connecting to laptop possibly for looping functions. I'm using Windows by the way (no garageband). I doubt I would like to shift the amp and pedals to the hostel as I do not want to be shifting everything about every week.

Thanks alot and any input is appreciated! :)

if you have spare cash you can try investing on a toneport.. it's very portable plays true ur comp/speakers and volume is very adjustable and bed room friendly.. line6 toneport comes with various programs which allows you to get various tones and enables you to do some recording too :)

Playing through an audio interface like the toneport and software on your laptop will get you the effects and looping you want, but I find most USB interfaces introduce a very very slight latency/lag that is noticeable compared to playing through an amp normally. However that's probably the easiest way. Headphone amps will require the use of pedals for effects and most sound quite bad.

You can also consider getting a small multi-effects unit like the Line6 Pod series, which can work as an effects pedal to an amp, or can connect to your PC as well. Might be a better option than a recording interface like the Toneport.

true true pod series is a good option too but honestly for me i dont really like all the tweakings haha unlike toneports everything can be done with a click but well it's personal preference anw eg pod live and such do they have the tone pod programs or are they compatible? eg pod farm/riffworks/ableton live?

Line 6 PocketPod is the answer. Small enough to literally fit into your pocket and its got just about everything you need. Can play thru headphones/com speakers/amp. Just bring the JM4 down and you're ready to rock. Alternative? Vox's series of AMPlugs.

I have a v-amp 2 which I haven't used in ages. Pretty good for modeling a bunch of amps and listening through headphones if that's what you're looking for. Give it to your for say, $70?

As above mentioned, vox amplugs good if you looking for ridiculously small. But I'm not sure how that's gonna work with your JM4.

I use this in the office. So far (touch wood) no complaints.:p

Great backing tracks for practice. But , I must say, nothing beats great band buddies.

Convenience 0/10-amp to headphones.
Convenience 10/10-Amplug
Best of both worlds-PocketPod

My take-if you want effects, go for something like the PocketPod. It's convenient yet produces a tolerable sound, especially when you don't have the convenience of using an amplifier/
