selling tickets for gigs have known to be a trend nowadays.
basically i understand the reasons to that.
but i would just like to know;

-do bands actually get to sell all of the tickets?
-are there people who would buy tickets from them apart from their supporters?
-and what happens if the tickets are not sold out?

CAUTION: thread may seem familiar!

Not another one of these threads.

-Yes the bands get to sell all the tickets.
-That depends on how well known that band is. Or how much they bother to promote the band/gig.
-that depends on the organisers.

Thank you.

Can the older musicians shed some light on this issue? whats things like in the 80s/70s?

Any bands back then need to sell tickets just to perform for 25 or 30 mins?

oops! stupid me!~

Really?!!

yep, most bands are able to sell all the tickets

but would it be difficult?
like trying to find people would are interested?
i dont know bout you guys,
but im like not surrounded by
gig goers kind of friends/people.
seriously, maybe one or two thats all.

ralphee, if you can't find people who would buy your tickets, maybe you can pay them to come watch you perform. Hopefully, if they like your music/band, they will tell their friends to check out your gigs in the future.

tickets..anyone?

a'ha! thats a good advise!
but.. that require me to have some capital before hand tho..
hmmmmmm.. nevertheless..
thanks soft administration dude!

When I was really young, I watched this cartoon Tom Sawyer where he got his friend to pay him so that his friend can 'enjoy' painting the garden fence which was suppose to be Tom's chore.

i've got a book about tom sawyer. yeah, as much as that's called a con or something, his friends really did enjoy doing his chores.

mostly, hard work pays off over time.
