Seeking advice on placing the Line 6 M9 in an effects chain.

Hi Soft Members!

Need some perspective on placing an M9 in my effects chain.
Currently, I'm using single effect pedals mainly, a wah, drives, couple of mods and a delay. I gave the pedal a test run the variety of modulations and delays that the M9 has and it seems to be a good buy for a musician on a tight budget. I was thinking of adding it into my chain of effects to give me more flexibility and options. However, a few concerns come to mind.

(1) I'm aware that the M9 has true analogue bypass as stated in it's specs. But, does it negatively, alter the tone of the sound produced? Does it suck tone?

(2) Does connecting the M9 in the pedal chain creates hiss or noise?

Really in need of some views and advice before i commit to purchasing the M9.
Would appreciate your comments! =)

Just to help paint a better picture, here is my current pedal chain.

Guitar >> Wah >> OD >> Distortion >> Clean Boost >> Flanger >> Chorus >> Delay >> Noise Gate >> Amp.

Thanks in advance for all comments -ve or +ve!

Won't be a problem dude. The M9 is DESIGNED to work like how you intend to use it.
I'm more hesitant to make the move to an M9 due to the fact I use a lot a fuzzes. Fuzzes are very senstive to buffers placed before it, and sometimes even after it.
Judging from your chain, you'd end up losing the flange+chorus+delay+noise gate if you get an M9. Plus it's CM's sale right now, best prices at the moment.

I replaced my analog pedals with a M13 and currently just running a suhr riot in the M13's loop and an exp pedal(quite impt for maximizing flexibility of use!). Theres no hiss or noise I experienced and the M9/13 has a built in noise gate which is pretty useful. I'm not sure if the M9 has a global noise gate tho. Tone-wise, quite subjective but I didnt experience/notice any change in tone for myself. IMO its a good purchase, $500 for all the different effects available for use. I mean, you'll never know when you will need a synth/ringmod/other weird effects so instead of purchasing a pedal just for 1 song i think the M9/13 would be a pretty good buy. good luck!

THanks Godspeed64.

I use mainly just distortions for rock to metal. Does the M9 have that built in noise gate that M13 has?

Thanks Tyzjames!

In terms of the tone, I've had some opinions that it takes away quite a fair bit of the original tone of the pedals but, Like you said it's really subjective.
Anyways, do you know how much would a good expression pedal cost to go with the M9?

the buffer does indeed suck tone... mine's always on the true bypass mode. sounds perfectly true bypassed as it can be to me!

That's cool KeithC!

Thanks to all for the tips and advice. Looks like I'll be making a trip down to citymusic soon!! THanks All!!
