Secret confessions of Singapore Office Workers

Sorry but personally I do not find it to be clever and witty, thought-provoking or funny at all.

And the ad is supposed to be about finding creative people.

Don't mean to diss but I wish that Singaporean advertising companies put in a little bit more effort to make their ads more memorable.

I hope it doesn't mean that Singaporeans are generally lazy and want to be spoon-fed all the time and not use their brains.

No offense but that short was really bad...

Looks more like a 1st year film student's project than an ad done up by creative professionals... Shudder to think if thats the "professional standard" in SG... :???:

It is no wonder our local creative scene is going on a downward spiral - people are criticizing the effort made when they themselves don't do anything and expect things to happen.

I am loss for words. Stop comparing local ads with those of foreign caliber. We have to start somewhere and move on from there, but if people like you (you know who you are) keep giving negative comments like that, it inhibits future creativity.

Darn.

Toooucchyy... Were you involved in making that video to get so offended over a negative comment?

Lets face it, how can one improve one's standards if they keep getting polite and pleasing comments that are music to their ears without knowing that the work that they did might just be bad to some people. Plus Art itself in general is a very subjective subject. Just remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion when one decide to showcase one's work to the public.

Anybody can make a short/ad/film now, its just a matter of how good the content and the asthetics is.

:) I was not involved in the video, but there is a fine line to be drawn between being constructive and and being critical.

Don't just say something is bad without giving personal inputs e.g. "The ending is a little weird, but maybe something like x and y and z could be modified/added/edited to make it more attractive" blah blah blah kinda remarks.

It is so easy to say "oh that is bad" and "ah, it looks like a freshmen year production" etc.

Bottomline, I am emphasizing on appreciation of local production here.

Sorry, but if there is nothing good about a local production, there is nothing to appreciate.

Anyone can make suggestions but to come up with something impactful and clever takes effort and a bunch of brains, not just one person's take on how it should have been.

All we are saying is that more effort should be done to come up with something better.

Absolutely nothing to do with whether it is a local or foreign production.

Singaporeans aren't all idiots.

Like it or hate it, the most valuable thing to come out of this Noise video is THIS DISCUSSION. IMO, that's what local art/ productions need - opinion, critique and commentary - to find its identity and to grow. The last thing we need is more apathy, so go ahead and disagree!

What I liked about the ad was how much it resonated with me. Can totally identify with the characters.. mid-twenties, working, doing the same thing every day, becoming a worker ant, "I look forward to 6 pm every day", forgetting the things we really wanted to do when we were young.

Hell, we even have those same blue swivel chairs at my workplace. :'(

Hey dude, glad we managed to "strike a chord" haha... I mean, that's what we were trying to do, reach out to people in the same position as you, and get them to remain creative.

Don't give up!
