Schools/Bands/Rilek Jack

I was thinking of doing the following:

Gather a couple of bands, prolly 5-6 bands.

And go around schools in Singapore to play during their "assembly" times.

And ask for donations after that.

We'll play in the name of a charity organisation.

Of course, we would need an organisation to back us up.

As for instruments, we can get our own, get someone to sponser, OR rent.

Prolly just need to borrow guitars and stuff from your friends, and most schools with bands should have drumkits.

So you do your part for charity AND also get some coverage for your bands!

What say you?

Just my thoughts.

Cos this idea has been running thru my head for awhile already.

So just thought of asking around and find what people thought about it before I really start to go around and organise it.

It'd be a very good platform for both old and new bands.

Exposure for local bands!

You gotta start 'em young.

sorry.

newbie question here.
schools do allow tis short gig during assembly eh?

i reli dunno. coz my work got to do wif local schools thinghy, nvr hear b4 leh...

ur idea is gd man....but the question is will schools allow hardcore/metal/punk rock bands to play???hmm my band would love to play too!!!
both exposure and experience can be gained from doing this....

I believe if the music played doesn't contain vulgarities or negative stuff, it prolly would be allowed.

And also if we do it by representing a charitable cause, the chances of the school allowing it would be pretty high.

I thought of this cos my gf's a dancer and she performs quite regularly in schools, and they do it just for fun.

So if dancers can give it a shot, then why not musicians?

No harm asking around, really.

charity=good idea

songs=have to be wide range, listenable (got such word not?)

coz if it involves $ + school, it will involve a lot wif the school in charge, committee(teachers),parent volunteers. and they would sure to want to hear music of their taste.

tat... u have to either gamble or discuss n plan well...

my S$13 worth...

i remember the time 2 ronin members came to my sch to play acoustically.
even though only 2 members were present and the werent play their more popular songs, everyone were screaming. LOLOL

This will take a couple of months in planning, but no worries, I'll prolly draft up a proposal tonight and send it to charity organisations, and see what they have to say.

YAY
