Hey fellow softies, im searching for a amp that will be loud enough to be played with drums and bass along with vocals for school use. We already have a Vox Ad50, we are looking into another amp and i cannot decide. I have already search soft, but i just found small tube amps and vox ad series so please help me out here.

Budget : $600
Genre :Worship/Rock/Pop
Loudness: loud enough to be heard throughout the hall

Hmmmm you also need to consider how big the hall is. What school are you in, just out of curiousity? I'd recommend the Sound Drive SG-621R from SV.

+1 to loldude. a great solidstate would be what schools need, cause no one's gonna bother with unusable tube amps, repair/ retube/ maintainance blah blah blah. just get a solid state!

Thanks for Replies! Sometimes we need to practice or just do jamming so have to do without PA at times. The hall isnt very big, dont really know how to describe.

Budget is strictly set to $600 :(

hai, same team as TS.
the school MR crew sucks, they don't know what they're doing.
thus the PA system is often screwed up even with 30-45min sound check.

imo in terms of sound distribution, 2 1x12" speakers placed on opposite ends of the stage compared to a 1x12" speaker would seem like a better idea.

So how does this have anything to do with a tube-driven or solid-state amp? Any amp, regardless of type, can be used in either configuration and be subject to each configuration's own advantages and limitations.

+1 to dodgethis. In any case, i believe the SG-612R has a line out jack, so if the stage volume isn't enough, the amp can just be plugged through PA, the MRC told to flatten the EQ and not touch it, and the guitarist can do his own tweaking. Problem of sucky MRC solved.

The amp being loud enough is not the thing. The sound, no matter how loud, is projected in a single direction. If you want a good, balanced sound, you need a PA system to collect all the signals so the soundman can balance them.
