Scales..

I've read about scales... and there seems to be a kind of patter like if you're playing any minor pentatonic there is a its gonna be 1-4, 1-3, 1-3, 1-3, 1-4, 1-4 ( from Low E string to high E string, 1 for index finger and so on) is that correct?
How to implement scales into solo?

Scales can be used to create the melodies in the solo, or you could play it fast and emphasize that you've been practicing really hard http://soft.com.sg/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

there are many many ways to use a scale in a solo and it's really up to your imagination to apply it, create melodies, create runs, create unique sounding sounds, combining it with licks you've learnt, playing/creating motifs etc...

but of course, applying the scale over the correct backing would be impt too

ok hoped i helped!
cheers! :D

Yes. They're called 'shapes'. Every different scale/mode has its own unique shape. You just have to apply it to the different base notes. Which is why many of us start out memorizing these shapes.

However, at a certain point in time, I wouldn't really encourage that. Its better if you know the notes, so you can really run all over the fretboard.

Memorizing and application do not exactly point in the same direction.
Understanding and application does.

imho.
