hey guys, im thinking of getting a Vox Satchurator to go with my Ibanez TBX15R solid state amp. does anyone have this combo and will the pedal sound good with a solid state?

Welcome to SOFT Ray! (I believe that's your name? Haha) Hmmmmmm depends on whether you're thinking of using the pedal to drive the amp or as a standalone distortion unit. Based on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0E292zQ5-o, it seems to be a standalone type of pedal, its already pretty much substantial. And i like the way it cleans up when the guitar's volume knob is rolled off. Perhaps you could also tell us what guitar you're using and any mods (eg installation of orange drop) you made to it, so we can help you further?

yup, my name is Ray :) haha :) and i watched that video 2 times over alr hahaha

hmm, i'm not sure about whether i'm gonna us it as a standalone or not. I'm using a Ibanez S470fm, with the pickups changed to Tesla Plasma 3's, with orange drop and a coil tap on the neck pup, haha :)

I find the Vox Satch pedal to shine when the gain knob is set at 9 - 11 o'clock, if you go further than 12, it sometimes get really harsh and too muddy or distorted.. furthermore, the lower the gain, the easier for you to get a 'clean' sound when lowering the volume of your guitar. I think it's works better in that setting

the satch isn't as versatile as it seems to be.
the tone knob cannot be turned past 11 or 12 oclock, that will give you a really really jarring and sharp tone.
the MORE switch is interesting and is useful, but its really muddy when the gain level is too high like Kernelspy said.

i sold my satch xD

:p LOL. I think they copied the Boss DS-1 waay to much on this part -->

But in fairness, I think with the right combination of guitars and tube amp, the Satch pedal may shine.

My buddy's using an LP Rally to a lil 15W Marshall amp and the sound is not that good as what we expect, too muddy or too much gain even rolling off the drive (gain) knob. So we tried it on my Strat + 15W Pathfinder and the tone is waay better, much more 'clean' and not too much over the top muddiness. Maybe the Satch prefers single coiled guitar?

Haha i doubt that, Satch himself uses a double humbucker equipped guitar most of the time doesn't he? May have to do with the pickups and the amp.
