Sarah at the Emmys

IT was interesting to see Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan performing at the 2009 Emmy Awards.
Mostly because we’ve not heard of anything big from her since last year, when she released her greatest hits compilation Closerand announced her divorce from husband Ashwin Sood, who also happens to be the drummer in her band.
Sporting a short crop and way too much jewellery that made her look like an accessories counter, what was also interesting was the song choice – I Will Remember You- and the fact that she was singing it during the customary obits section of these awards shows, where they salute TV’s movers and shakers who passed away this year.
I’m guessing that probably sparked off a few questions in fans’ minds, not least “was she channelling her thoughts about Ash during that emotionally-charged rendition”?
However, an even more pertinent question might be: “Why was Michael Jackson being featured in an obits section saluting the giants of TV?” Is there no end to everybody capitalising on the MJ is dead bandwagon?
Oh well… Sarah’s apparently preparing for a new album out next year, so if you like sad love songs, that’s something to watch for.
