Lushington Entertainments are proud to announce that guitar maestro and Grammy-winning, record legend, Santana, will play on 7th March 2011 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Carlos Santana pioneered the mix of rock, salsa, jazz fusion, Latin and African rhythms even before “world music” was a genre on record. He not only respects the traditions and influences of the past but also has the ability to recognize and welcome change.
In his forty years of performing, Santana has sold more than 90 million records and reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide. Santana has won ten Grammy® Awards, including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999’s Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Smooth”). In 1998, the group was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whose web page on their induction notes, “Guitarist Carlos Santana is one of rock’s true virtuosos and guiding lights.” Among many other honors, Carlos Santana has also been cited by Rolling Stone as #15 on their list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”
His newest CD, GUITAR HEAVEN…THE GREATEST GUITAR CLASSICS OF ALL TIMES (featuring “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”), was released in late September 2010. Celebrating this chart debut, Santana joins the ranks of the Rolling Stones as the only musical act in chart history to score at least one Top 10 album in every decade beginning with the 1960s. GUITAR HEAVEN…is Santana’s 29th Billboard Top 200 charting release, 12th Top 10 album debut and third Top 10 debut in the past 5 years.
GUITAR HEAVEN was produced by Howard Benson, Matt Serletic, Clive Davis and Carlos Santana who devised a list of guitar-centric titles – and then invited a Who’s Who of guest vocalists to perform on every track. Singers range from Chris Cornell, India.Arie, Yo Yo Ma, Pat Monahan, Chester Bennington and Ray Manzarek, Rob Thomas, Scott Weiland, Chris Daughtry, Gavin Rossdale to rapper Nas, veteran Joe Cocker and more.
Santana last performed in Singapore in 2008, also presented by Lushington Entertainments. Once again, Singapore music fans will get the opportunity to see one of the most prolific and successful artists live on stage. His show is part of a series of concerts marking the 20th Anniversary of Lushington Entertainments.
