Sadowsky preamp question.

Hi guys.

Lets say, i plug my bass into the sadowsky bass preamp. then from the preamp i XLR it out to PA system can i simultaneously output to a bass amp. so the sound goes straight to PA and also to my bass amp at the same time. making the amp act as a monitor.? possible?

thanks.

its possible, but on a side note, a bass amp may not be the best monitor because the amp will colour the tone, so what you hear from the amp might be different from what comes out of the PA.

the best compromise in your situation would be to try to bypass the preamp of the amp. it is usually possible if you make the right connections, but it depends on the amp and its setup

yea. i see. normally at home i just set bass----> sadowsky---->amp then start playing. on the amp settings i just set everything to 0. acutally i need the amp because i want to monitor wat i play thru. there place has no monitors so i basically need to strain really hard to hear wat i play in the entire mix.

one method of bypassing the preamp of the bass amp (if there isn't a jack for it) would be to plug into the SEND (or return? one of them lah) jack of the fx loop instead of the input jack. so bass >> preamp >> fx loop SEND

it works most of the time lah, but sometimes the fx loop of the amp is post-EQ. i think it was like that for my markbass.

i used to have a phil jones preamp and i really wanted to hear it's pure tone. i didn't have a power amp so that's what i did. if you own something like a sadowsky i'd imagine you'd want to hear it in its uncoloured glory.
