Rusty strings..

Nowadays I seldom do it, because I've turned more vegetarian, less meat man.

So my body PH is less acidic, strings last longer.

Maybe you guys could consider some diet change ?

Guitar strings = indicator of health.

Haha waaah so scientific. hmm interesting lol! theoretically possible.
Imagine when ur strings start rusting you will be like " NNOooooo! imgonna die!" haha ok lame...

theoretically yes. but reality, Lame.

My guitar strings has been on my guitar for over a year.

I play almost everyday, and no rust.

But of course, I wipe dry after playing, and then dab mineral oil.

And also brasso the mofo when the need comes.

The faster your string rusts, the higher your chances are of getting cancer.

Cancer thrives on acidic body PH.

Alright, this is nonsense. It's totally theoretically wrong.

To say that you eat less meat and your body gets less acidic is crap.

Yes, protein digests to become amino acids, but those amino acids are used up or becomes proteins again in your body, not stored in your body like fats. The rest of amino acids, which are of excess, are deaminated and goes into your urine. Thus, your body fluid does not experience an decrease of PH just because you ate more meat.

Also, parts of your body are acidic where it needs to be, like your stomach. There will never be a time where all parts of your body and bodily fluids are acidic, as there are internal mechanisms in your body to maintain the PH. You would have DIED if all parts of your body becomes more acidic.

Your sweat will not get acidic. You never taste sour sweat before right? Instead, sweat tastes salty because your body excretes sweat along with some waste materials.

Finally, it's not acid that makes your strings more rusty. Water and oxygen is all that's needed to make your strings rust. Presence of salt just increases the rate of rusting.

And cancer does not thrives on acidic body. Like I said, you would have DIED if you had an acidic body.

Therefore, guitar strings =/= indicator of health, the faster your strings rust, the more you should be aware that you're exposing your strings to salt and moisture, which is most likely from sweat.

Oh, and the scientific things aside, in order to slow down the rate of rusting, you need to coat a layer of lubricant on your string. Dr. Duck's Ax Wax is the best one, from what i've gathered.

brother, get a lube or something the world's leading brands are dr duck's wax lube and fast fret. really good stuff.

Fast Fret, though, having used that for some time, tends to leave the strings oily. Now, there's nothing too bad with that as it means that at least moisture won't affect the strings, but it also leaves the fretboard qutie oily and sticky

Same goes for the Ax Wax, unless you're extremely careful with it

err, actually your body can get overly acidic. All fluid has a pH. Acidity in th body doesnt mean the overall physical body pH per se cos u cant measure pH on that, but rather those of your bodily fluids. Thus the word acidosis. but heck it, makes no sense to the rusting part.

So i guess it doesnt matter how much ur pH is, but how much sodium is in ur sweat. hahaha, science is fun like this.

my g,b,e strings always get dark after about 1 or 2 days of playing... especially the areas where i play the most... i probably get 1 week+ out of each set of strings? :/

1 week! That's really short... I absolutely hate re-stringing, doing it weekly would kill me!

The only coated strings I've ever used and will ever use would be Dean Markley Alchemys. They sounded and felt great immediately, as compared with most strings that need a few days of being on the guitar to sound good. Re-stringing your guitar a day before a performance is a can-do with Alchemys.
