Hey ther.... is there anitin tat can prevent electric guitar's strings from getting rusty? Positive and negative advise are welcome......

use Dr Ducks ax Wax and string Lube.
its like 10 to 15 bucks able to get from StandardValue.
you CAN clean the entire guitar with this wipe.

My strings used to rust after a week cos of my sweaty palms.
And also, I used to leave the guitars out in the open air.

But now, I wiped before and after playing and also keep them in cases. The strings would last about 3weeks. Not so long but better than before.

Don't use strings?

Depends on what brand you're using too. The ax wax extends string life. But like all things fair, strings will rust no matter what. Just a matter of how long. So imo, just get a good set of strings and the ax wax. (I recommend Dr Duck's strings. They last hell long!)

You cant escape from rust..even if you play or dont play. One solution only, change your strings frequently (once a month for me) ! If you dont know how..get a friend to teach you or just run a youtube search.. plenty of help there.

Air(which contains oxygen) is your biggest enemy. Rusting of strings is inevitable, its only a matter of time? But you can prolong your time by buying those lubricating products like fast fret or jim dunlop ones. And for me i have a habit of keeping my guitar in the guitar bag after playing to limit the air from oxidising the strings ^_^v

The simplest technique I can think off is to keep your guitars in their cases when you're not playing them for long periods of time. A hassle, but in my case, really saves me the trouble of buying new strings and re-stringing my guitars often.

lol bro for those strings, it'll take like a week for the titanium to flake off, then leaving it uncomfortable to play. for me la.
:D

Use D'Addario xls(stainless steel) strings. Wipe with Dr duck axe wax. Wipe before and after playing. Put guitar in bag when not playing, buy a dehumidifier bag (quite cheap from home fix diy) and stuff in into the bag to balance humidity. That's about it.

Kyser Klassics Dr. Stringfellow~

I bought it at Swee Lee Aljunied I believe years ago, and its not yet half bottle yet~

Or was it Guitar Gallery? It was a few years ago hmm....

I don't like Fast Fret.

My guitar strings has been on my guitar for over a year.

I play almost everyday, and no rust.

But of course, I wipe dry after playing, and then dab mineral oil.

And also brasso the mofo when the need comes.

Nowadays I seldom do it, because I've turned more vegetarian, less meat man.

So my body PH is less acidic, strings last longer.

Maybe you guys could consider some diet change ?

Guitar strings = indicator of health.

The faster your string rusts, the higher your chances are of getting cancer.

Cancer thrives on acidic body PH.
