hey i just wanna ask if anybody knows any good place to route a solid body electric guitar to accomodate a floating bridge?

i see no need to go to a professional guitar luthier, so maybe an experienced carpenter would do. anyone have any suggestions?

thanks

solid body can be a les paul/tele/SG/strat/etcetcetc.
I remember guitarworkshop quoted me 200bucks for the routing for floyd rose and installation of nut on a strat..
while guitarconnection quoted me 400+
if you are talking about routing a guitar like a les paul with no cavity at all, it will cost a lot.
and sometimes experienced carpenter are only experienced in cutting furnitures or things like that, yes they can use their machines to route your guitar, but they are not specialized in this area.. so there may be a risk. (your guitar may get damaged by their machine or things like that.) many carpenters are very rugged one... you get my drift.. guitar luthiers will not treat guitars as furnitures or etc... haha they will treat guitars as guitars.

So, if you really want to and must route your guitar, go to those specialised shops to do.. this kind of money cannot save one...
If not, get a new guitar with a floating bridge..

I wanted to route my strat for the floyd rose, but dudelove said there will be a lotta problems like tuning and etc. so yeah, best is to get a new guitar.

Hope this helps.

Best is to get a guitar that already comes with a floyd. Its not a good idea to route a non-floyd guitar. It can affect the sound and many more and not to forget that hole in your pocket.
