Revolutionary Musicians

Care to name a few?

Was hoping to widen my horizons, as well as maybe find a few names to use for a project.

Brian Eno & Talking Heads (when they worked together) they helped to start what we now call World music.

Yes - Heroes of Progressive Rock (Lots of classical influence but weaved in nicely with modern instruments)

Led Zeppelin - Forefathers of rock

Deep Purple - Forefathers of Metal

Captain Beefheart - music that is crap and yet people will like it. To me, this is the beginning of punk music.

Lou Reed & Velvet Underground - Avant garde music - now more popularly known as alternative

Frank Zappa - I don't know why

Rickie Lee Jones - Mother of most female acoustic singer/songwriters. Forget about Joni Mitchell, she's whiney and she's a FOLK singer - nothing more and nothing less.

P Ramlee - Singapore's only major star with any true talent (I'm serious on this)

Not wanting to start an argument here cos' it looks like a pretty fruitful thread but HAVE YOU EVER HEARD HENDRIX LIVE?????

ALL guitarists that have ever professed to being a Hendrix fan do not play like Hendrix. Hendrix was cool and a near genius in the studios. But, oftentimes, at live shows he would just freak out and play garbage.

The entire preceeding paragraph concludes the facts and nothing but the facts on Hendrix's playing then and today (his legacy).

Yeah but I guess it's ok to put him in as one of those that made a difference - revolutionary.

ritchie blackmore from deep purple definitely made an impact in the world of music...

uhh how about madonna? lol :D
k fed? for being a laughing stock...

yeah i agree hendrix has played some real garbage live. but that doesnt mean ALL his live shows were garbage. even jimmy page had his bad days, pete townshend, clapton too. many of the musicians of the 60s-80s had frequent problems on stage because of their drinking and drug problems. no one is perfect. but still, hendrix's music is still very influential on the music now. cant change the fact that he changed music.
