Resonant Heads

Hey guys,

been sometime since i last posted. so HELLO TO ALL AGAIN.

Question. What Reso heads do you people use?

I realized that after a couple of years drumming. I have not changed my redo heads. they are still stock.

So What heads do you use for resonant?

haha, I have not changed the resonant heads on my school's kit either, still the pearl forum stock heads. But from what I gather, most like to use clears for resonants.

For instance, remo clear ambassadors or evans g1 clears. Not sure why though...

I'm still using yamaha's stock head too. But I'm planning to change to coated ambassadors once I have the $$ to do so. xD

coated ambassadors... for resonant heads? :O

Can you tell me what coated ambassadors sound like on toms? I just bought some today but have not tried them out yet. Btw, there was a swee lee sale just today that had most stuffs like drumheads 50% off. They ran out of 14" Coated Ambassadors though so could not get one for snare... :/

yea. i realised most drummers use clear heads for reso. i guess its due to the sonar qualities that we can get from the heads. i am planning to get my hands on some G1s. hope it will work well. :)

haha err no money for me, so still sticking to stock resonants! :///

yup but anyway in case you were wondering, i was at ranking today (distributor for evans) and their heads were generally around $20-30 for one if i'm not wrong. Also, do remember your kit's snare/tom/bass sizes LOL. I forgot the sizes of mine when I went to buy today, so really quite confusing, even though I bought some anyway. Not sure if they fit geez....

thanks man bro. but i usually get my stuff off ebay. you should try. singapore bloody rips you off. even with shipping. they can be cheaper. i really sigh at the way singapore stores are marking up.

for example. Today. SWEELEE finally sold its stuff at retail price, usually they sell at KILLER price.

I have no idea what's the difference between, say, G1 clear batters and G1 clear resonants. Both G1 clears, same make and thickness but it's just the batter and resonant word that is different. Could someone clarify what's the difference or are they the same, just different wordings?

Anyway, am using evans genera resonants on my toms. Wanted to get G1 clears but couldn't find stock the last time. If im not wrong, coated resonants would make the toms sound warmer and deeper maybe? and clear resonants will increase the projection and attack.

Oh, I mean the difference between the G1 batter and G1 resonant. The genera resonant is a different reso head. Are they both the same heads? Because both of them are single ply 10mil film heads.

Tom batter - Evans™ G1™ series features a single ply of 10mil film blending a bright tone, sustain and sensitivity. The head sets the standard for an open and expressive sound. Tuned low, it produces a cavernous rumble that emphasizes the natural sound of the shell.

Tom reso - Evans™ G1™ series features a single ply of 10mil film with a bright sustain and broad tuning range. The G1 is a standard for tom reso heads, offering full sustain and a balanced tone.

According to the Evans website, the pictures shows the print on the reso head as genera G1 while the batter head is G1 clear. So if they are the same, are the difference only in the print? Is it possible if I use the G1 reso as a batter and the G1 batter as a reso since they are of the same weight, just different print?

Unless I'm wrong,
Look at the item number at the bottom. Both reflects the same item number. So I assume its the same actually?
Just that they categorise it as such.

Now that answers my question. Hahaha. So I assume certain standard batter heads can also be used for resonants too.
