I have a g400 epiphone sg..and i was wondering is it possible to drill holes on the body to install a sg standard pickguard...
and does drilling holes to install the pickguard affect sound and resonance of the guitar?

if its possible to be done..where can i get this done..??lol thanks..
hopefully some kind souls would answer my question..thanks

pickguards are merely cosmetic so no worries there. however to install a pickguard requires you to drill holes on your guitar which also means the resale value will be affect. in any case, you can get the pickguard and installation from Guitar Connection.

I assume you r looking to install a full Sg pickguard. before you buy and install. make sure you got the right 1, the holes fits in nicely. i.e holes for the pole pieces,
the pickup area etc...some aftermarket pickguard are not a perfect fit/replacement...

For installation, i do it the simple way, just screw it in, no drilling of holes involved. :)

you mean you put the pickguard in place and start screwing in the screws?? that is so much riskier compared to drilling holes!

well, I might have interpreted this wrongly (I sure hope so).

yeah, that's what i do upon confirming that it totally fits in place and position. using a electric screwdriver. :)

I don't really recommend that, the hole may be much too tight for the screw to fit and it's not really good to force it in. Like what relinquish69 said, send it to Guitar Connection or what and let them deal with it.

From experience, I've never had that problem and I just manually screw it in by hand. But then again, it's just me and might not be the case for others. And speaking of SG pickguards, I bought one that was really off. So best that you send your guitar in to save urself the trouble.
