relic-ising your guitar

hi is there some shortcut way of relic-ing my guitar like those relic strats? instead of waiting 500,999 years for the paint to wear and termites to make babies in my guitar.

be careful what you want.

and dont expect it to be much of a shortcut in terms of effort.

i'd rather play it intensively for years and be able to play better.

if your strat isnt a nitro finish it wont age/relic like the REAL 1950s -70 strats.
poly finishes can be reliced but would look weird it they weren't natural IMO

HEY!! im trying to relic my strat too!

some things ive tried and i think adds to the relic-look

1) Play it often , bring it out for gigs and jams all the time - be careless with it.
2) Accidentally bump the body on stuff whenever you can.
3) jab it with keys and screwdrivers, coins , penknife , thumbtacks etc..
4) look at picks of real relics and add arm wear and pick wear to taste etc...

I'm doing my 4th SRV no 1 relic model - just installed / routed body for the gold left hand bridge - will post pix when done.
