Hey fellow softies i know it's a question that's been frequently brought up here, but here goes..
Im just another guy wanting a classic rockish heavy metal sounding tone, well i did do my research and what caught my eye are mostly the dimarzio stuff eg. x2n,d'activator,tonezone
im currently using a HSH set up, well i do have some guitarist's tone that really catches my ear,
Mustains,King diamond's guitarist(what ever his name is),Tony Iommi,RandyRhodes,adriansmith/davemurray,marty,pg,the shadows fall guy lol ok i'll stop here as it'd prolly go on.

Anyway im pretty curious as after researching abit i noticed that quite afew artiste uses sey duncan's jazz pups why is that ? i simply cant see the link enlighten me please :(
Pardon my questions as i know there's alot of question raised on pick ups, but really i cant find any useful info so far.

well cos the SD jazz is rather versatile. it can handle both clean jazz tones as well as outright distorted metal tones(with the right amp of cos). well here's a list of pups i suggest with whatever little i know:

seymour duncan:
- jazz (n)
- 59 (n) or (b)
- invader (b)
- JB (b)
- dimebucker (b)
- distortion (b)
- quarter pound (m)
- vintage flat

dimarzio
- d activator x (n) and (b)
- super distortion (b)
- x2n (b)
- tone zone (b)
- evolution (n)
- PAF pro (n)
- FS1 (m)
- SDS1 (m)
- hs4 (m)
- area 67 (m)

thanks for the list man bro.. will check em out :D

hmm and on the note i did check emg out but the actives seems real expensive

i didnt really recommend actives cos high chances are on u having to dig out more wood from ur guitar just to fit the battery cavity. also u have to know that emg isnt really known for their single coils. havent heard abt the steve lukather model yet though. but then u're gonna be very limited in ur options when u go active thanks to that single coil in the mid. if u want something more boutique u can actually try bareknuckles also. their humbuckers can really bring u back to the good ole hair metal days lol :p

Its good to see you've done some research, may i also throw Tesla pickups into the mix. IMHO they sound as good as DiMarzios and SDs but are quite a bit cheaper. Definitely worth checking out if you're on a tight budget. They're available at SV.
