regarding bending strings

i trnf to arch my fingers up so the upper strings only come into contact with my nails, which doesnt cause them to snag. takes more effort but it's worth it; at least you dont get the upper strings caught.

i doubt this is the correct method.
when tilt ure wrist, the strings should bend ,and all the strings moved should touch the flesh and not the nails.

i think you are missing my point, this is only MY opinion, and what i do.
also since skin has more traction it is MORE likely to snag on skin than nails.

actually i doesn't really matter that much as long as you can get the sound you want. my guitar instructor does exactly what the threadstarter does.. when he bends, upper strings gets over his nails. but that doesn't prevent him from being a killer player.

As for me, i like my guitar's action to be around medium-low. now when i bend, the upper string stays on the tip or get caught into the string i'm bending which causes extra string noise. AND I LOVE IT.. sounds so gary moore-esque but if i don't want the extra string to ring out, i simply just palm mute it..

here's how having the strings get caught sounds like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTilybzt71c

at 1:00 and at 1:41.. enjoy

if ur strings action is high or u prefer it that way then naturally the above string wil go over ur nails. if action is low there is no way for that to happen.

*problem is internet communication,

you say something yet people interpret the message in 1000 tones hence either friendship is created or wars wage, senseless in my words :)

if you think i'm sensitive it's your guilty conscience speaking.
you said that you doubted that my method is the right way, and i told you my reasons, and said to each his/her own.
what gives, man?

ya to each his/her own then what are you hinting at?
i gave my advice, which was opposite of yours, and now youre talking about guilty conscience? why would i feel guilty when i didnt do anything?
like i said, i believe in keeping the nails away, that is my stand and you have yours. i have no idea why you are going on and on when frankly, i accept that you ahve your own methods, i was just giving my advice.

anything wrong?
oh yea i used to use nails, til my guitar teacher corrected me.

im not even quarelling with him all i said was "exactly lucadia, to each his own (:
(or in my case her)" TO LUCADIA.
sheesh i know you're bored and wanna be a troll but srsly get some sense in your arguments.

vicko, you know its like when you make a remark to someone else which is supposedly meant at someone else in this case(ladyintears). imho

i just think you 2 shouldn't quarrel over something about over bending. its useless. make soft a peaceful forum. :D

OK let stop all the argument and stick back to the topic regarding bending string and having the upper string touching the nail.............

i tend to arch my fingers up so the upper strings only come into contact with my nails, which doesnt cause them to snag. takes more effort but it's worth it; at least you dont get the upper strings caught.

erm I wouldn't like the strings to touch my nails I use the flashy part of my fingers to push the strings up
and then if you use nails you probably won't get some female students who has their nails painted with cute patterns for obvious reasons I would paint my nails if I'm a girl

apparantly no one understands simple english so im just gonna stop trying.
and lucadia wtf is up with you my comment wasnt even directed at you =.=

and funktastic, no ones quarelling, but people are trying to stir some shit, but it isn't me!

hey pepsi, dun worry too much, or i should worry too much too..Cause my guitar is also a freaking 0.5 cm distance from string to the 12th fret. I think all cheap and lousy guitars all like that...

Anyone had any idea how do fast and mass bending?

the 1st bend is probably a double stop bend. Then when u bend u can use 1 finger to gip the string and bend it down it's easier. the rest is just normal bending just do it damn fast it's not impossible though I can do it
