Refunds

Hey guys, got into a bit of a situation. As some of you might have seen, I was selling a Danelectro Pedalboard on behalf of a friend in the ads. Some one was interested in it and this was the conversation between both of us:
Let us call this guy 'A'
A:Hi bro interested in your danelectro pedalboard. Just wondering, can it fit boss pedals as well?
Me:Best for you to check measurements online, but the board is meant to fit Danelectro-sized pedals.
A:I don't have internet connection at home, only at work.
Me: Ok let me do a quick search for you.

So, out of good will, I just did a quick search and found that Danelectro Pedals are about 1.5 the size of boss pedals, so I assumed that it would fit.

Me: Danelectro pedals are about 1.5 size of boss pedals, so should fit. But best if you check first.
A:Ok reserve for me till mid of month, will buy from you then.

We had the deal today. Now he's complaining that the case cannot close because the boss pedals are too tall and is requesting a refund. What should I do? I clearly did tell him in advance to check, and have spent the cash from the deal. Not sure what I should do at this point of time. Help!

My argument for not giving him a refund is:
1)I did tell him to check it twice
2)He doesn't have internet at home, but at work, so he could have checked it there.
3)He didn't bring the pedal along to check whether it fit or not

Just wanna do what's right!

definitely im on your side.
Buyer should always double check before purchasing.
It's second hand product though, check BEFORE you buy.

But of course it's your choice whether you want to refund or not. Final decision lies in you! :D

I've honoured requests for refunds before (e.g. guy complains my comp was noisy when it was just his high-gain setup's noise), and I always feel stupid later on for being too nice.

Same here man.. Refunded some guy cos he didn't like a pedal + a couple of small problems which I stated in my ad, I still feel stupid for doing that.

it's his problem now. you lived up to your end of the bargain by delivering something in perfect working condition. it's like how you can't return underwear if they can't fit.

If you reminded him to check, I would say no to the refund. It makes sense doesn't it? Not as if you lied to him or anything.

However, care to share a little more on the "situation" ? I have plenty of such experiences (lucky me) maybe I can help you out with this one.

Better save all your message logs if he decides to call the police or whatever nonsense. However if you want to save all that headache and trouble, just refund him. Singapore filled with people who have the "customer is king" attitude anyways.

I will refund if there are problems with my pedals which i didn't state in the ad. If they want a refund just because they don't like the tone or the scenario above, the customer has to be blamed for not doing any prior research.

Ok some updates. I sent a nice long reply, presenting myself in a rather 'professional' and neutral tone, if you know what I mean. Reply that I got was a joke:
A: Wah! Good answer to tai-chi ur fault ar! It's ok bro, I believe in Karma. U will get ur retribution when da day comes. Have fun bro! Tc..

Hmm 'tai-chi' my fault that I didn't do my homework for you? oh well. Sometimes being too nice makes you a target for push overs.
