Rectifier??

Hi I'm been hearing this term rectifier over again and again and I'm wondering what it is. I'm guessing it's ridiculous amount of distortion and overdrive?? Thx in advance for explaining

A Rectifier is just a device that converts the AC current to DC.

Doesnt directly affect the distortion unless its a tube rectifier.
A tube rectifier will create more "sag", the audible result is a
slight compression.

Rectifier tubes are the 1st to blow because of the inconsistent current...
