I got a drumset in the corner of my room due to space constraint and am gonna close mic my kit..but problem is because it so close to the wall when im playing it there's a lot of booming due to the proximity of the kit to the wall and the reflections..will this affect the mic pickup or should i do something to minimise the close reflections? what do i use..i have plenty of egg cartons btw, will it help? thanks..

there's only 1 way to find out - record and listen lah!

but seriously, that's the only way i can suggest. else we will all be talking about 'maybe' only.

what mic are you using? what is your recording set up?

im using two AT condensers as overheads, and sm57s for snare toms and bass drum, yet to buy a suitable kick mic..ha that's true but i've yet to begin tuning the thing up so maybe i'll try first and listen..just afraid that the booms will affect the pickup..

For your case, there are few possibilities...

Try to diffuse bass freq using a diffuser...

Place bass traps in the corner...

Lastly move your drumset to the center of the room..

Get a bass drum mic, SM57 is not suitable...
Also, the booming comes from your bass drum and floor tom. Put some pillow or anything absorbent on the walls next to these two parts, so the wall reflection gets absorbed rather than reflected.
