recording click track in cubase 4

doing up a guide track, so i need the metronome to be in it. did some recce and found 2 ways, looking to see if there are other methods.

1. out from interface and in again, record click
2. run click through a drum vst

1 generates some, though very slight, quality loss. i tried 2 to no avail.
there's no drum vst in cubase 4?

or any other methods?

I use battery or LM7 , but it's not a click sound ( claps etc whatever my module has )

1. program midi for the click for one bar , the Ctrl + D like mad for the whole song

2.link midi to Lm7 or any drum sampler ( halion etc / battery )

3. adjust sampler vol to taste
