Recommended ways to restring acoustic/classical guitars?

How long normally the new strings take to set in for it to stay in tune?
Is there a correct method to restring & how about nylon on classical guitars?
For classical guitars, do we need to tie this kind of knots to keep it in place, neat & tidy?

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you

as far as i know the knots are needed. I've never seen classicals strung in another way. O:
How long to set in tune depends on how much you play lor. And whether got stretch it. I normally stretch by just pulling the string away from the body, and voila, maybe a day or two, sometimes less, it stays in tune.

Nylons can be stretch too eh?
Ok thanks, I dedicate this nice video to all rockers..

Yup, as far as i've done. I use the Pro Arte (or smth like that. It's been a couple months since my last buy) brand for my classical, it stays in tune pretty well.

Pro Arte strings good? I need a new bass e string, who got spare?
I was given an old but unused pack of Albert Augustine (http://albertaugustine.net/)

For me, i use Hannabach Silver strings and i do a shortcut tie for the 3 bass strings and the full thing for the 3 treble strings.

Hannabach quite costly rite? Do you find them better?
And also you guys/gals prefer med or high tension strings?

Yes Mr. Jellybean, and the next question is how can I get it from you? Paypal? :p

Haha yeah $22 a pack no joke man. But they last damn long, both in terms of tone and sound quality (they don't die quickly). Lovely strings, nice and loud, yet mellow.

Auction on ebay, you'll be informed if you win the bidding. :D
Joking laaa. If you want i can mail over to you FOC. I bought the strings for my acoustic, but only needed the trebles.
High tension as in thicker?

as for sale of strings, do you think there're any shops in SG that sells it individually? Because this is the second time I broke the same string (bad luck??) and I don't want to get the whoooole set again. Thank you (:

Haha you're not alone, I broke my strings too while replacing them.
Specify which string you need? We can sort of start a 'string exchange program' here..

:p

From my experience, the strings they sell aren't exactly the best (quite the opposite IMHO). Might be better to keep a spare pack of strings for scavenging.

I bought a few of that 'Gibson' a while back, and broke 2 of them.. hehe
Guess its ok la for temp/emergency usage, while waiting for a full set replacement.

:p
