hey!it's been a long time since i dropped by here.been busy with O's but now that it's finally all over(THANK YOU,GOD!),I'm going to start picking up electric guitar!!I intend to be self-taught(slowly learn from tabs first, then try and learn by ear so i can be independent) by learning from mostly tabsites, maybe a few How-To-Play XXX videos YouTube!!
i'm going gear hunting this saturday so i hope to get some opinions and advice.
well, mostly going to play green day stuff since my frens and i are going to start a green day cover band soon.hmmm,i'm thinking of getting an amp with built-in effects, simple one will do(doesn't seem like Green Day are the type to play around with wacky techs) since the backbone of their songs = mostly distortion & bcos'i think these amps with built-in effects will cover everything i need to do with the effects they offer(simple effects, like reverb, delay etc.)
so i'd like recommendations on a nice amp to cover green day songs with.a simple, affordable amp will do like i said, but covers all the effects i need to play green day songs.
guitar-wise,i've been recommended(read:forced!) by my guitar-playing friend to get a rally les paul copy from standard value.he tells me it's bcos' he didn't have a chance to try it and really regret so he wants me to get it,don't want me regret also, haha.(ps!is it rly that good?)
also,do tell me what else i'll need in covering green day, cos' i'm still wondering if i need pedals(although i believe amp+guitar is all i need),just not very sure.

thankssss!!:mrgreen::cool::p

Your friend shouldnt force you, it aint right.
Not saying rally is bad, they do make some good beginner guitars for the price. Just dont buy one cuz you friend tells you to. The guitar should be one where you like the sound and feel.

lol haha.not really force la.as in keep recommending to me.been reading through forums and see that it's highly recommended also in alot of different threads.seems to be a good guitar.

Seems like most post o-level peeps are looking to pick up the guitar this holidays. Been loads of threads recently.

Yeah, heard that the Rally Les Pauls are better than most Epiphones in terms of QC and tone. Better to try it out on your own.

And Rally is cheaper too. Anyways, Epi's QC has gotten better over the years,so Epiphones these days are safe. Tone wise, well its up to you really. I find my epiphone having a much better tone than other LP copies in my opinion, so yeah, try them and other copies out there.

GET A MARSHALL JCM 2000 STACK!!!

I kid, lol, don't do that :P

Green Day... hmmm... A P90 equipped Les Paul Jr for the guitar...
Well, that's what gives them the punchy sound :D

Also, depending on your budget, maybe you can get some 2nd hand tube amp from the buy sell section, and some drive pedal that emulates a marshall JCM 800 to push into the amp.

Something along those lines, depending on your budget, though the guitar... I'd rather stick to a normal les paul, for versatility. (I'm sure you won't only play green day lol)

All these getting the gear ur hero uses stuff isnt gonna make you play like them

worse still if youre starting out, say usng the exact same gear as whoever will only demoralize you as you will realise you cannot play like them despite havin the exact same equipment.

What you need to do first is consider if you really wanna take on the guitar a long way or will it just be a passing phase. If you feel its gonna be a passing phase thing dont bother spending on high end stuff.

If you dunno which it will be i rather you get a beginner package or something

but it can inspire you too..

i've mentioned before. it doesnt take much to sound like him. i'm sure its not something they really care abt. i'm sure u care more abt looking more like him that sounding like him, and i know u obviously wont admit it. so, go get a guitar that makes you look like him, and maybe some eyeliner to go with it also
