Recommendations for Nylon Strings Guitar

I know most of us here prefer hard rock and heavy metal axes. But no harm trying eh?

I am looking for a nylon-string guitar to complement my electric and folk guitars.

The requirements:-
(1) Spruce Top
(2) Excellent sweet and mellow tone
(3) Excellent pickup system
(4) Excellent value for money (Budget less than $1.5k)
(5) For playing solos or strumming in a band

Any recommendations on what I should go for?

:D

if it was my personal choice...it wouldnt be a proper nylon guitar.
rather it would be the yamaha silent guitar, SLG-100N.
the neck is a 49mm wide classical style, but its also thinner than normal so easier to play.
also b-band pickup, so you know when plugged in its going to sound good.

and for strumming stuff, well its good enough for brian may :P

the guy singing, paul rodgers, is using the steel string version.

brian may is using a red limited version of the 100N, i myself have a black one along with a regular classical.

Yes, thanks! The Yamaha silent guitar is quite high on my list. You just confirmed its a good choice.

I haven't tried it for myself. But I've heard a friend play it once. Awesome sounding. Amazing that a guitar with an "invisible" body can sound so good.

My only issue with it is that I need an amp, speaker or headphones to get sound out of it.

Unlikely for anyone to sell this 2nd hand. I might just drop by Yamaha so I could go home with one of these. :P

It won't be a big issue for me. But I suppose I can't do the slap technique thingy on the Yamaha silent guitar since it does not have a body? :P

i would suggest a Line 6 variax 300 nylon.

its going for about 800 in city music, the 700 will be a bit too high end.

300 is produce a really good tone, and one thing great about it is its playability. very nice action and smooth neck. good choice

Yes, the Godins are cool. I should also try out the Line 6 digital simulation at City Music someday.

I just went to Yamaha yesterday and there was only 1 last piece of SLG100N. It's bought it at 25% discount as it was a demo piece and the condition was no longer perfect.

The tone is just what I am looking for. I like the sound better than those from most full bodied nylon string guitars. Thanks, Everdying! :D
