Hi

As above

Play and listen to mostly metal, but open to many music including chinese pop song strumming or allman brothers type. Are there any guitars so versatile?

Play through a solid state amp, not much pedals cos duno how to use them.

Not familiar with more expensive guitars, what sets the difference? I am using a beginner Cort electric with the pickups changed to tesla. Hope someone can help me here to check out whats the key difference to compare against my older one.

Any other advices or questions, please feel free to give

TIA

I'm a very big fan of PRS SE models, I myself use the 25th Anni Custom 24 SE, damn good guitar for me, maybe you should go try some of the new PRS's out :)

If you want versatility, nothing beats a good 'ol Telecaster. $1 000 should be able to fetch you a brand new Baja, or a 2nd hand '52RI. Ebenex has one of the '52RI in stock, you can check with them for the pricing.

metal...? would you need 24 frets and a fast neck? if yes then it sounds like an ibanez to me...

head to guitar stores. ask for recommendations for that kind of budget. try them all. evaluate. buy.

if you have something in mind, you can bypass all that and find the cheapest source for that particular guitar.

a guitar's versatility depends pretty much on the player. what's most important is the comfort. I cannot stress this more than anything else.

I highly recommend the new Ibanez mid range RG series. Try taking a look at those made this year with the Edge Zero II bridge. Those are super for their price.

yea... new bridge, different woods (for non-high end guitars), different shapes (x-series)... ibanez has totally step up their game...

still kind of upset that I bought some other guitar (not an ib) just before the x series was launched... lol

Hi All

Thanks for the comments again. Some qs to ask back

The Ibanez models by faekildare, where can it be found?
the stock pickup are good enough to play nice clean and heavy distortion?

Also OOT, but i heard of war pigs pickup? is suited for death metal type? where can i find it?

Thanks again

You can find the models at TYMC or Swee lee. The stock pickups pretty much sucked if you ask me, but even after you swap them to SD or Dimarzio, it's still within your budget.

Don't think anyone is bringing in war pigs pickups. But if you are talking about bareknukle warpigs, then TYMC or Standard value shop.

Thanks faekildare.

Any last words for me? lol

Any recommendations of the pickup combo to change from the ibanez? of cos i will go ask around in the shops

I haven't tried bareknuckle before, so I can't give you suggestions on that. I personally like Dimarzio Evolutions the best, but those are not everyone's cup of tea.

The only advice I can give you is, get the guitar first and see if you are comfortable with it. Or rather, at least try it first and make sure you like it.

The feel of the guitar is the most important. Come next the sound. Cause in the end of the day, your fingers do the playing, the guitar doesn't produce sounds by itself. Good luck.
