Hi! im looking to buy a new electric guitar. I currently have an LTD M-50, but its falling apart so i decided to get a better guitar instead of spending money to fix it.

I like to play metal, rock or jazz, so i'll need a guitar that is quite versatile. The guitar must have a whammy bar, preferably with a floating bridge and locking nut. 24 frets would be nice but not essential. Budget is max $2000. all of your suggestions would be greatly appreciated in helping me make my decision. thanks!

ibanez rg series
or the ibanez s series
go swee lee bras basah and try lar
i that time go got 25% off leh

S5470. 24 frets and ZR bridge. :yum:
but not too sure whether available at Swee Lee..

umm jazz with a fr whammy bar??!!! ahem ahem, not exactly ideal....

Why not 2 guitars. $1000 on your jazz/light rock/punk guitar and another 1000 on your hard rock/metal guitar.

Rock/metal For under 1k. S series ibanez with zr trems are definitely reccomended. Or want an original floyd rose? epiphone prophecy series are prob the cheapest of the lot. Just above 1k. For floyd rose systems tuning stability/durability is everything.

jazz/light rock/punk. You'll prob want a hollowbody here. Ibanez artcore hollowbodies or the epiphone dot are the obvious choices. How about a yamaha aes620 hb for just above 1k?

it'd be interesting to know how this could happen... termite infested?

darknessiscomfort: haha i was thinking of the S5470 too

shioks76: I was thinking of doing that, but the jazz is more of a side thing. So basically i need something with a decent clean tone (no active pickups haha). And if i spend more on a guitar (hopefully) can get something better. epiphone prophecy seems good i'll check it out

subversion: bridge pickup falling out, volume nob fell out, bridge rusting. actually all the problems are my fault. its my first guitar from about 4 years ago, and i didn't know anything about how to take care of a guitar. i guess the problems are easily fixable, but i think i should upgrade anway
