Recommendation on 4 string bass

Bass for metalcore

Hey guys.
any recommendations on a 4 string bass compatible with metalcore and hardcore music.
my budget is about 400. i got some recommendations from my friends to get Epiphone and another is Ltd.what's the difference between epi and ltd anyways?

haha lucky you are at soft not at talkbass, you will get flamed for this....lol, for 400 bucks get a used bass seriously, i reccomend squier. epiphone is a short scale bass, most ppl hated it, i hated it (JUST MY OPINION), ltd is okay, but depend on which model you are refering for, dont bother to look at bc rich stuff(again my opinion), not that they are bad, but their basses is common for neck dive problem. what you should bear in mind is utility>look of the bass. if your guitarist tell you to buy a certain bass, dont listen to him, you are the player, you will be playing the bass not him, play what you are comfortable of not what other ppl tell you to play.

btw cort is great too, cort is the same company that make sterling by musicman, squier, ibanez, g&l tribute, and the list go on, so you could really trust on the brand.

BTW i saw some IBANEZ bass used with some great price at classified =)

Just wanted to chime in that:

epiphone is a short scale bass

Epiphone is a brand, of which the EB-0 and the Violin-bass are short-scale (30") and the rest of Epi's basses are standard long scale (34").

Apart from that, quite good advice to follow here.

i remember the epiphone goth thunderbird is 34"

Epi's thunderbird are quite rare and pricey, tokai also has some quality basses which should fit OP budget too
