Recommend Amp <150

Nobody asks you to buy after you try. If you don't like the tone, just walk off & say thanks. If you based on calling them for stocks & prices, you'll never find the amp that you like. you are now searching for whats available in the market within your budget & i believe some people does it.

Take a walk down guitar shops, try whats available. If budget prohibits you, save up. You'll be glad if you do.

Don mind me for being direct.

ok.... Go down citymusic & give it a try. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you wont.

Dont make $$$ as a priority.

recommendations:

vox pathfinder 15r: great cleans, inbuilt tremelo and reverb, gain boost button, looks nice ($120~ secondhand. $159 i think during city music sale)
line 6 spider 3: 3 type of dirt-crunch, metal, insane, inbuilt many effects ($150~ secondhand)
roland cube 15x: 4types of dirt, rugged built (price ??. available at swee lee)
johnson standard 15: my personal amp(with a pathfinder). i just love the overdrive. always play ACDC songs using this amp.($90~ at ranking, music theme)

Will be going to City Music. Hopefully the Vox Da5 is in my price range. Or else its the pathfinder for me.

Haha i still don't get what the cabinet is, despite reading the article.

lets just say it is the speaker.

the usual amps u see are combo amps. that is the amp + the speaker.
amps are made up of preamps and poweramps. the speaker is not an amp by itself.

examples of combo amps: vox pathfinder, spider III - these have built in speakers, they dont need cabinets
examples of amps w/o speakers: epi valve jr head only, orange tiny terror - these need to have cabinets or speakers to have sound.

So the picture above, Why he using two amps? since pathfinder is a combo amp why would he need a cab. Or is he using both seperately?

Pathfinder will act as his Equalizer or 'head' like the Orang Tiny Terror. The sounds will come out from the speaker bellow it... Getting a cab I think will give you louder and better sound.

maybe he just prefers the cabinet to the amp's speaker? its up to preference. like amps, speakers play a role to in tone. different speakers have difference nature. even close back and open back has a difference. some people very much go into detail. i dont fall into that category.
