ok... i've thought long and i feel it's time for my Trace Elliot Brat amp to go. It's got a nice generic distortion but it takes anything and everything and makes the distortion generic.

anyone can recommend me a guitar amp under $400? I'm looking for the following features:

- Preferably Marshall glass-like tones.
- Able to bring out the sounds of individual pickups.
- Not too loud. Playing at home.
- Line in - effects return would be a bonus :)

Thanks in advance! :D

under $400?

With your requirement, I would suggest to get a second hand Marshall AVT-20 (of course if somebody else is selling. But then, you can always put an advertisement).

Try to up your budget to $495.

Tech21 Trademark 10.

Its got all you need, fender/marshall/mesa tone, tube like response, efx loops, real spring reverb and lots more.

Check sinamex.

chanmin - hmm which model for smarvo?

popeye - yeah was considering avt20. any idea how it matches up to avt50? (since i want to get as close to a marshall they provide in gigs)

ShredCow - the T21 Trademark 10 looks really good. hmm.

well main thing you wanna have is a decent clean channel.... so you can use your pedals..etc... the smarvo i think is REALLY the cheapest and best value for money. i havent tried one.. but based on the price and specs..you cant argue.

Dunno. never really tried AVT50. AVT20 is more than enough for me at home.
Anyway, I believe in gig, AVT50 is still too small.

yeah... i've noticed the rave roland cube reviews over here... however, i'm looking more for an amp that's close in terms of sound to a 50W/100W amp that one might be using for gigs...

a 50-100 watter for 400? kinda tight, dont you think?

actually.. the smarvo 40 watt w/chorus costs abt 290 i tink.. shld be within ur price range.. or if u want tube.. i tink the smarvo 100w all tube head costs abt 570-590

Prae - i mean something that's close in terms of sound to a 50/100W. just so that i can set my pedals and pickups and not go through a big hassle of changes when i gig. not viewing 50/100W (would be too loud for HDB, yeah? )
