Rechargeable batteries with ur basses

Hey guys. Just wondering whether your use rechargeable batteries with ur basses.

Cause been constantly changing the batteries and realised its kinda expensive in the long run.

If so, what brands do your use? And where to get them. I've been hunting around Best Denki and Courts but can't find any. can only get the battery but not the charging dock.

Many thanks in advance.

you shouldn't have to change the batteries on an active bass for several months. unless it's plugged in all the time or something. 9v batteries only cost a few dollars.

as for pedals, just go for power supply.

hmmm. I play pretty often. the usual practice daily and rehearsals weekly. But recently i have been switching batteries every 2 weeks. And i'm wondering why.

Using regular energizer batteries.

even with regular use, the battery in an active bass should last for a few months, i think. unplug your bass if you're not using it. maybe take out the battery if your bass has a passive/active switch and it's on passive (not too sure if the bass will still work).

if you're about to gig, then you may want to replace the battery before that just in case.

any 9v battery should be fine.

rechargeable 9V batts may not be a good idea, since the voltage is not 9V but more like 7.5V or 8V compared to non-rechargable.

lower votage may not make the chips in the pre-amp work so well. I remember reading some pre-amps chips actually work best and sound best using 12V, and 9V batts is already a compromise (for more practicality, since 9V batts are easier to find, no special 12V battts)

yeah rechargeable batteries tend to supply a lower current as well.

according to subversion some time ago, alkaline batteries 'last longer' because they supply reduced power (become weaker) as they are about to die. so while it is true that the battery takes a longer time to die, it becomes weaker towards the end of it's lifetime. OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT  that would be a serious problem for musical instruments.

non-alkaline batteries are pretty easy to find, even at music shops

yes cow- that's the primary reason why i prefer batteries; being noiseless (or very negligible amt for that matter).

if you are doing alkaline, you would be sustaining the device on sustained, reduced, power. this i dislike as it affects tone. the VINNIC brand is cheap no doubt but it gives Everready a run for the money, i consider Everready to be the industry's standard.

personally i use GP. can get it from ranking, ahpek shops or my personal favourite, DAISO

Get from Sim Lim Tower, highest floor, there's a shop selling all types of GP rechargeable batteries with the charger.

I got mine for about 25-30 bucks.

rechargeable should be no big deal...

i was merely referring to 75% of the replies in this thread
