Hi. I used to use a Akai S5000 hardware sampler in my friend's studio where I can import a WAV files and assign it to any key on my controller keyboard for triggering. Is there any soft sampler available out there as RTAS instrument for Pro Tools that can do that as well?

Well, I'm a sound designer where I want to trigger wav sound effects like foot-steps etc. to video with my controller keyboard instead of the tedious way of manually dragging the sound effects one by one to the picture.

No it's definetly possible.

I would say every soft sampler can do this. I'm not big on RTAS but pretty much every VST sampler can do this. If it can't record or import samples (wav files) then it's not really a sampler, it's a rompler.
