RE: Disappoint of Music Avenue

RE: Disappoint of Music Avenue

Dear Softies,

I guessed that we had already explained the whole incident about copyrights. None of us wished to use fellows’ copyrights. I guess Mr. Stevenson is trying to catch more public attention with his story.

Most IMPORTANTLY… Music Avenue DID NOT collect any money from any of our members. Composition of the song that Mr. Stevenson said…was actually done by Jaye & Stevenson. That song was not even completed!! Not even the 1st verse!! The song was not used in any productions… If ever … Mr Stevenson heard of your so-called music out there…somewhere… in any of the Music Industries…SUE me ….ok …? There was NO cheating, NO sales in the market or what-so-ever…BTW… Are u trying to implement that you have evidences that we took, sold or used your so-called *music composition* in the Music Industries?

Just to say something extras regarding your post reply…You were saying about qualifications, that people with mere secondary one or two can not achieved or be trusted? Guessed that you looked down on people with my qualifications. Do you think that ONLY highly-educated people can do music? Please make things clear before you actually try to use your story to make it big in public which were not true at all .Last but not least, for your reference, Music Avenue Records has taken every legal actions towards this case. We shall solve this matter with you legally with our solicitors. Personally I will be suing you for your public accusations towards me.

Above message was sent by e-mail from Ms Jaye.

sigh this is sad la. guess we learnt a lesson, never trust people. A can say that they did not promise anything but B may have a different story. how do we solve this if nothing is in black and white?

Depends on burden of proof, and whether the discussion had involved into a contract of some sort.

Unfortunately, this looks messy.

We need CCTV and Black Box:)

We should take this sensitive case in an adult order & not in a kiddy way. By complaining here and there in this forum or else where.

My "ANG MO" may not be up to standard, but i still can fight back:P Hahahaha...

Jaye do have a account too "Jaye". There are 2 freelancer working together with jaye. Lebon Chia (Me) & Tiffany Goh

A little sidetrack, but I hope this question I'm asking can help us all approach collaborations with more caution on both sides.

MAR: Before everyone gets down to business, do you (plural) sit down and talk thru the terms and methods of working together thoroughly? I mean, what are your standard professional practices when you negotiate deals with new musicians/artistes? I am finding out partly for myself, cos who knows, one day we might end up working together... :D A general idea of what u do professionally in negotiating would help other softies understand the process so that there will be less grey areas to fight about in future.

Goes for all professional musicmongers. This is as much about business as it is about music. That's why it's called music business  Maybe other softies more involved in the music biz can educate us a bit here. I'm sure I'm pretty sure I'm in the blur over some of these things.

I'm not sure if this is a good time, but then again, when is?

Mind taking this matter OUTSIDE of SOFT? It is because of such unneccessary topics that is wasting SOFT"s bandwidth. None of our concern, it is you and his. SOFT already locked 2 of your threads and you guys have the cheeks to open the third one?

Hey then again, this is not my forum, just feel sorry for James as he is paying for this.

Buy/Apply your own forum and start your stuffs there. God bless.

If it's so easy for the whole forum to start hurling words about MAR just because of a one-sided post, then I think they deserve at least a chance to clarify to everyone. It's a company's reputation at stake.

Noooooooo!! Come on.. This is entertaining stuff! Much better than the Bold and the Beautiful!

This forum is an English-teacher's nightmare.

Anyway, I don't know if you've checked, but there's a lot of unnecessary topics flying about in this forum.. The longstanding Arsenal thread is one example.. (hahaha..) But seriously, if everything on this forum is about music, it'll be pretty boring..

I for one would love to hear Stevenson's response.. Come on lad, get in there!

in case you do not know, the first 2 thread was started by mr stevenson. and this thread is started not by him but by MAR. their reputation is at stake when facing this kind of problems. moreover, there are quite a number of musicians here. they do not want to ruin their reputation because of this incident. i'm sure they want to work with musicians in singapore in the future. by letting us know will do them and the society good.

just let them voice out and let's hear what they have got to say. it's not for us to judge the outcome of the case but it's for us to judge the reliabilty of the record company from the way they handle the situation they've got in hand.

.

i absolutely concur!

it's not personal, it's business.

to the threadstarter : have you commenced legal proceedings against the individual whom you are intending to claim damages from? who are ur solicitors?

Is your company a registered company?

If I'm not wrong, the legal context on defamation suits is that if your company is not registered, the law doesn't regconise your reputation and your case would just be dismissed as groundless.

Well maybe I might be wrong but then again, you're wasting time and lots of money if you're gonna pursue this.

Maybe MAR could provide us with a portfolio? Or something that speaks of your reputation?

If you can provide other musicians' testimonials, who's happy with your work, then walaa, you got yourself a backing.

But pls, no offence but if you don't want ppl to look down on your qualifications, improve your english and deal with the matter professionally.

Good luck.
